🔥🧘♀️ HYP HOT PILATESTEACHER FEATURE: SHVONNE 🧘♀️🔥
It’s time for another HYP Hot Pilates Teacher Feature! Meet Shvonne and learn a little more about her practice, her teaching, and what keeps her moving. ❤️
✨ When did you first start practicing?
I have been practicing Yoga for more than 10 years at least, before I started teaching. Pilates, for about 6 years. I gifted myself a Pilates class for my birthday one year, and I’ve been thinking about my spine every day, since.
✨ How long have you been teaching?
Altogether, including time practicing on friends, it’s been about 3 years. I love it! Working with students to tune into themselves physically and mentally, is a service that keeps giving
✨ What’s your favorite pose?
Standing Head to Knee Pose! Simply because I can do it, but not greatly- and getting better is the journey
✨ When do you like to come to class?
I am typically a morning class person. It’s the time I feel my best; open and ready to receive
✨ What’s the most challenging part of your practice?
The practice. Remembering to live the principles on and off the mat. It’s the point.
✨ And what do you do to over come it?
Remember that I am human; and with that I extend compassion, love, and kindness to myself and others
✨ Why do you keep practicing?
Because it works, both Yoga and Pilates. They both in their own way, encourage tuning in to one’s self to realize truth (who you really are)
✨ Who’s your favorite musician?
Ugh, I can’t say that I have one. Music is life! At any given time, it can lift you up or set you down. You can often catch me listening to most genres, all mood based. I like to stay open to the idea that I might like that, which I do not know. The unfamiliar.
✨ What’s your favorite restaurant in Philly?
Currently, Aqimero. Great food and options for all, a grand environment (where I can practice non-attachment, attaching would be expensive)
✨ What other fitness routines do you have other than yoga?
Outside of Pilates and Yoga, I still enjoy endurance work like cardio. Endurance training is where I learned to physically, keep going! Resistance training with weights, also still a thing a few times a week for bone health and longevity.
✨ Advice for New Students?
Start. Anytime, any place. Yoga, Pilates, or movement in general is personal. It will look different in every body (all bodies). Find your favorite method, then let it work for you. It’s medicine!
