Perinatal su***de prevention is everyone’s responsibility. In this month’s free Psych Snacks webinar, we’ll discuss practical approaches for reproductive and mental health clinicians to assess su***de risk, implement brief interventions with meaningful impact, and support patients safely across the perinatal period.

Join us this Wednesday - and be part of the solution. 💕

One of the most common questions we get from people with bipolar disorder who are pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant is whether it is safe to stay on medication. The answer is almost always yes, but it requires a real plan from someone who actually knows this space.

If you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or postpartum and navigating bipolar disorder, this is exactly what our perinatal and reproductive psychiatry clinicians are here for.

Exciting news! 🎉

Shannon La Douce, one of our psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners here at UpWell, is co-founding Strength and Grace Collective alongside Rachael Henry — a women's only gym opening June 1st in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Strength & Grace Collective was built around the belief that women deserve more than reactive care — access to evidence-informed strength training, mental health education, and a community that meets them in every season of life. From pregnancy and postpartum to perimenopause and beyond, this space was designed to support the whole woman.

We are so proud of Shannon and Rachael and everything they have built. Go show them some love 🫶

Being human is messy, complicated, and sometimes really hard. That is exactly why we are here! 💛

There is no perfect reason to reach out and no threshold you have to hit before you deserve support. If something feels off, that is enough. We meet you exactly where you are, no judgment, no checklist, just real care from people who want to help you feel like yourself again.

We're ready when you are: https://www.upwellpsych.com/

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health does not always look the way we expect it to.

It's not always crying in bed or feeling unable to function. Sometimes it's snapping at the people you love for no real reason, staring at a TV show you used to love and feeling absolutely nothing, or waking up already tired before the day has even started.

If any of these signs hit close to home, we would love to help you figure out what is going on and what to do about it. That is exactly what we are here for. 🩵

This one is personal...

Even Kelly, our founder with two graduate degrees in mental health, found herself overwhelmed in ways she did not expect after having her daughter. If it can happen to her, it can happen to anyone.

One in five women experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and many suffer in silence. These are not small statistics and they are not talked about enough.

You deserve a team that gets it. Our perinatal and reproductive psychiatry clinicians are accepting new patients across Oregon and Washington. Reach out today 971-202-1122. 🧡

Your nervous system does not know the difference between a lion chasing you and a deadline that got moved up to tomorrow. To your brain they register as the same level of threat, and it responds accordingly.

That is why stress feels so physical. The tight chest, the shallow breathing, the complete inability to think straight when everything piles up at once. Your body is not overreacting. It is doing exactly what it learned to do to keep you safe.

The good news is that this is not just how you are wired forever. With the right support, your nervous system can learn, adapt, and settle. Let us help! 💛

Words like these are the whole reason we built UpWell the way we did - a practice where people actually feel cared for, not just treated.

If you have had a great experience with our team, we would love it if you shared it. A Google review helps others who are searching for the right support find us when they need it most. ⭐

We talk a lot about the importance of rest, play, and connection — and we mean that for ourselves, too. 🤍

Our providers are out hiking mountains, reading novels, tending gardens, laughing over dinner with friends, playing board games, cuddling pets, taking naps, going to therapy, sitting quietly with coffee, and finding small moments of wonder wherever they can.

Burnout is not a badge of honor around here, not for our patients and not for our team.

The same care we encourage you to give yourself is the care we’re actively trying to give ourselves, too. And we think that makes us better at this work.

What’s one thing you’re doing this month to care for your mental well-being? Let us know in the comments. ✨

Long before UpWell existed, our team was working hospital floors, surviving night shifts, holding hands through hard moments, and becoming the kind of providers people never forget.

While as PMHNPs, our clinic is a Zoom room, and our uniforms are more often sweaters than scrubs, the heart of nursing still shapes everything we do:
the listening,
the advocacy,
the calm in crisis,
the caring for the whole person and family system — not just the diagnosis.

We know healthcare can feel impersonal sometimes. But nursing at its core is about bringing humanity back into the room, and we’re incredibly proud of our UpWell providers who carry that spirit into their care every day.

Happy Nurses Week to our amazing team — and to nurses everywhere. We see you, and we’re grateful for you. 🤍

Tag a nurse who made a difference in your life, or share a story about a nurse you’ll never forget. We’d love to celebrate them with you. ✨
