Henrico County will open two cooling centers Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, to provide community members with a comfortable place to escape the extreme heat.

Libbie Mill Library, at 2100 Libbie Lake E. St., and the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, at 1440 N. Laburnum Ave., will be open each day from noon to 7 p.m. Access will be restricted to designated areas, with only air conditioning, drinking water and restrooms available to visitors.

We were so proud to see one of our Henrico CONNECT sites highlighted in the recent CBS 6 story featuring Feed More’s Kids Cafe program and the incredible Miss Stacy… whose care, consistency, and dedication help nourish youth across our communities.

Oakland Connect was specifically recognized as a vital community partner… providing more than just food. Through mentoring, tutoring, and safe after school engagement, the program supports youth academically, socially, and emotionally.

While Oakland CONNECT was featured… the impact reaches far beyond one site. All five Henrico CONNECT programs benefit from Feed More’s Kids Cafe partnership… helping ensure youth throughout Henrico have access to meals, support, and care.

This work is about more than food… it’s about community, connection, and showing up for our young people in meaningful ways every single day.

Shout out to Feed More, Kids Cafe, Miss Stacy, and every CONNECT site working together to help our youth feel seen, supported, and fed.

Child abuse is real…
And more often than not… it’s happening in silence.

Not every child is going to speak up.
Not every situation is obvious.
And not every adult is paying attention.

That’s the problem.

Prevention isn’t just about wearing blue or posting ribbons…
It’s about how we show up for the young people around us EVERY day.

👀 Are we paying attention?
👂 Are we really listening?
🗣️ Are we willing to speak up?

Because one safe adult…
ONE… can change everything.

So this month… don’t just be aware.
Be present. Be intentional. Be accountable.💙
