Dr. Kathryn Holloway, who leads VCU Health's Deep Brain Stimulation Program, says the emotional wins for patients matter just as much as the physical ones, and Chal Nunn's story shows exactly why. Years of Parkinson's medication side effects had taken away his ability to hug his wife, until deep brain stimulation gave him that simple moment back. Weeks after his procedure, he called being able to embrace her again "a miracle."
