The Center for Developmental Disabilities celebrated the Grand Opening of the Equip Vocational Hub in Woodbury, empowering individuals with disabilities through hands-on workforce training in Office & Administration, Hospitality, Retail, Marketing, and Nonprofit Organizations.

Thank you to Jay Silverstein, Ph.D., Jane Reich, Michael Kitakis, and our incredible collaborators: Long Island Cares, Huntington Hills Center for Health & Rehabilitation, Trader Joe’s, Spirit of Huntington Art Center, and Toys for Tots for helping make this vision a reality. 💙

🍳 Career of the Month Spotlight 🍳

The EQUIP participants were treated to a delicious and inspiring presentation from a talented culinary chef, Mabel Guadagna from Mission Belly Full, who shared her journey and passion for cooking! She spoke about the joy she finds in feeding others, the creativity behind her work, and the dedication it takes to succeed in the culinary field. The highlight of the day was a live cooking demonstration, where she showed the group how to make fresh spring rolls which everyone got to enjoy afterwards! Experiences like these bring careers to life and spark new interests for our participants. Thank you to our amazing guest chef for sharing her time, talent, and passion!
