On Friday, 23 October, as part of Mediclinic Hermanus's ongoing commitment to health awareness, our team took health screening services to the community at Whale Coast Mall. Together with ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd. and other valued partners, we offered free blood glucose and cholesterol screenings, helping community members gain valuable insight into their health. We screened more than 100 people, ranging from individuals under 30 to community members in their 90s, and were encouraged to see that the majority fell within healthy ranges. The screenings also highlighted opportunities for some individuals to focus on improving their cholesterol levels, reinforcing the importance of regular health checks and a healthy lifestyle. The most rewarding moment of the day came just as we were packing up. One attendee shared that the screenings had inspired her staff to make positive lifestyle changes based on their results. Hearing that our efforts sparked meaningful conversations and healthier choices reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

At Mediclinic Hermanus, we believe that healthier communities start with awareness, education, and action. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day a success.

Behind every rescue is a team ready to make a difference!

On Saturday, 17 October, Mediclinic Hermanus, ER24 and Overstrand Fire & Rescue joined forces at Hermanus Primary School for an motor vehicle accident simulation, giving the community a glimpse into what happens at the scene of an accident.

From the use of the “jaws of life” to why it takes time to safely free a patient from a wreck, attendees got to see first-hand what goes into a rescue operation. Our younger spectators even had the chance to explore the ambulance and fire truck, with some trying their hand at the fire hose!

Beyond the excitement, the day highlighted the everyday heroes who work together to keep us safe. With a doctor and nurse ready to assist on scene, every team member plays a vital role in getting patients the care they need.

At Mediclinic Hermanus, patient safety starts long before the patient reaches the Emergency Centre. Together, we make a difference!

Mediclinic Hermanus would like to thank the community for their participation in our second annual Health Screening Day, where we offered free cholesterol and blood sugar testing. Our thanks to Pathcare Hermanus and their new dual-test machine, which allowed us to screen more than 100 patients in just 5 hours. While we are proud that most results were within healthy ranges, it was meaningful that we identified a few patients with slightly higher cholesterol and blood pressure levels — a great reminder of why these check-ups matter. Guests were also treated to lucky draw prizes sponsored by Mediclinic Hermanus, Pathcare Hermanus, and the newly launched ER24 Hermanus base. It was a day filled with connection, care, and community spirit. We look forward to seeing you all again at our next Health Day in 2026!

Mediclinic Hermanus along with ER24 hosted a CPR marathon with our local response teams as part of World Trauma Day observed on 17 October 2025. Traffic Control and the Fire Department joined us for a day of fun and learning. ER24 taught us the basic principles of CPR since many of us are first on scene. The CPR competition tested perseverance of the longest correctly performed CPR. Today was also the official base launch of the new ER24 Hermanus base – to celebrate, the ER24’s CEO, Ben Johnson joined us. 🆘🚑
