On 18 June, our CEO and Founder, Phillipa Brown, will be taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, spending one night sleeping out in the cold to stand with Australians experiencing homelessness.
Before founding MeHelp, Phillipa worked at Sacred Heart Mission, supporting people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage. That work taught her something she has never forgotten: homelessness rarely starts with a tent. It starts with a job loss, an illness no one treated in time, or financial pressure that builds until something gives.
Tonight, more than 122,000 Australians have nowhere safe to sleep. Nearly one in four is under 25. And roughly two in three people in homeless services are living with a mental health condition.
That overlap is part of the reason MeHelp exists. Removing cost as a barrier to mental health support has always been the heart of what we do, because the people under the most pressure are often the ones who can least afford to go without help.
We’re proud to stand behind Phillipa as she takes part. We’ll be sharing how the night goes. 🙏
