R U OK? Day

Sometimes asking “Are you OK?” can open the door to a conversation someone really needs.

R U OK? Day is a reminder to check in with the people around us and make time to really listen.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Being present, listening without judgement and letting someone know they don’t have to face things alone can make a meaningful difference.

At Relationship Matters, we know how important connection and supportive relationships are to our wellbeing. If you’re going through a difficult time, our counsellors provide a safe and confidential space to talk, feel heard and find a way forward.

If you or someone you care about could use some extra support, we’re here.

Sometimes the most important conversation is the one that’s hardest to start.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

This year’s theme, Changing the Narrative on Su***de, calls on all of us to Start the Conversation.

Open and compassionate conversations about su***de can help challenge stigma and create space for people to feel heard, supported and safer to seek help.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Checking in with someone, listening without judgement and letting them know they are not alone can be a meaningful place to start.

At Relationship Matters, we believe no one should have to navigate difficult times alone. If you’re going through a difficult time, feeling overwhelmed, or supporting someone you care about, our counsellors are here to listen and help you find a way forward.

Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, valued and supported.

During National Child Protection Week, we’re reminded of the role we can all play in creating environments where children and young people feel safe to speak, know they will be listened to and can get the support they need.

This year’s theme, Every Conversation Matters, Shifting Conversation to Action, is a reminder that listening is important, but what we do next matters too.

At Relationship Matters, we support children, young people and their families through life’s challenges. Our Children and Young People Counselling service provides a safe and inclusive space where young people can feel heard and supported, build resilience and develop ways to cope with what’s happening in their lives.

For parents and families, our family counselling and parenting programs can also help strengthen communication, navigate challenges and build healthier family relationships.

Because supporting children also means supporting the relationships and families around them.

A milestone worth celebrating in our reconciliation journey.

On 1 July 2026, Relationship Matters officially launched our inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan 2026–2027 at the Koorie Heritage Trust in Melbourne.

The event brought together staff, partners and community members for storytelling and an artist talk delivered in partnership with The Torch. We also celebrated “Life’s Journey: One Mob #2” by Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri artist Joel A, whose artwork features throughout our RAP.

Our Reflect RAP provides a framework for strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and embedding reconciliation across our everyday work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this important milestone. The launch marked the beginning, and our commitment to listening, learning and meaningful action continues.
