Meet Lew 💙
A Rowville local and retired bookkeeper, Lew recently shared his experience of being cared for at Mulgrave Private — speaking openly about the comfort, kindness and confidence he’s felt throughout every admission.
“Nobody ever wants to come to hospital, but when I get here, I feel very confident,” Lew said. “The care is wonderful. You hear the warmth in people’s voices. There’s friendliness, laughter, and people who genuinely care.”
Lew first came to Mulgrave Private in 2016 and chose to return for further treatment over the years because of the warm and welcoming environment, close to home for both him and his wife, Carol.
“In other hospitals you can sometimes feel like you’re just a number” he said. “Here, everything is explained to you. You feel informed, cared for and respected.”
One of Lew’s biggest surgeries - a 10.5-hour procedure in 2024 - was performed by colorectal surgeon Mr James Lim, who Lou credits with saving his life.
“He’s a wonderful man,” Lew said. “Very professional, very humane. After surgery he personally rang my wife to let her know I was okay. That meant a lot to us.”
Lew also praised the nursing staff for their compassion and responsiveness.
“The nurses are incredible. Even when they’re busy, they still do everything with a genuine smile. You never feel like a burden for asking questions.”
Now, after another successful admission, Lew is looking ahead to something special - a trip to Queensland with Carol ahead of their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary ❤️
From all of us at Mulgrave Private Hospital, thank you, Lew, for sharing your story. We wish you and Carol a wonderful celebration and many happy memories ahead.
