We knew exactly how we wanted the Ritual Cleanse to feel: a soft, creamy lather that left skin feeling clean and supple.

Getting there took six months, countless samples and more conversations about bubbles than we ever expected.

A small detail, perhaps. But one we wanted to get just right.

“In your 30s, I’d focus on understanding your skin and being consistent with its care. These are treatments I value, but your plan should reflect your skin, your priorities and the time you have.”

— Dr Kate

Treatment choice and frequency are individual and subject to consultation.

Once a year. The Halo Laser.

“I take a long-term approach to my skin, and Halo has a place in that. It supports several concerns in one appointment, including sun damage, texture and overall ageing concerns.”

Quarterly. BBL or Skin Needling at Youth Lab.

“The choice depends on what my skin needs. BBL supports redness and sun damage while skin needling focuses on texture and collagen support.”

Your skin. Your routine.

A recommendation can be convincing, especially when the skin delivering it looks that good.

But their skin, concerns and circumstances may be quite different from yours. If you’re navigating hormonal changes, a busy household and five minutes to yourself, your routine needs to account for that.

Before adding another serum, start with understanding what your skin needs and where your current routine might already be doing enough.

That’s where our clinicians come in. We consider your skin, your goals and your existing products before recommending what belongs on your shelf.

This patient saw CALISTA | DERMAL THERAPIST YOUTHLAB | PERTH for a comprehensive consultation at Youth Lab Joondalup.

Concerned with redness and flushing to the cheek area, Dermal Therapist Calista devised an individualised treatment plan.

This patient had 3x Vascular Clarity Half Face treatments. Each treatment was spaced approximately 3 weeks apart.

A consistent skincare routine was also devised as apart of this patients tailored treatment plan: SkinCeuticals Soothing Cleanser, Phyto-Corrective Gel, Redness Neutraliser, Epidermal Repair and SPF50.

The before and afters images above were taken 6 months apart.

[Sunscreen myths] A clinical perspective.

I see the effects of sun damage in practice every day. So when sunscreen headlines create more fear than understanding, I have to say something.

‘Chemical’ does not automatically mean harmful. Mineral sunscreens contain chemicals too. What matters is the ingredient, its concentration and how it is used.

Absorption alone does not establish harm, and a request for more research is not, by itself, evidence of danger.

We should keep asking questions and reviewing the evidence. The TGA’s advice remains clear: the benefits of sunscreen far outweigh the risks.

My concern is what happens when fear changes behaviour. A frightening headline can persuade someone to apply less sunscreen, question every ingredient or stop using it altogether. That leaves their skin exposed to a well-established risk: UV damage.

The sunscreen I recommend is one suited to your skin, applied properly and used consistently, alongside other sun protection measures.

There is room for informed questions. There is a real cost to fear replacing evidence.
