Last week our team visited Clinic Dr. Bita in Montreal for their official site visit, and we left inspired.

Their philosophy shines through everywhere: therapy is collaborative, courage is the first step, and every client is the expert on their own life. It’s exactly the kind of care psychedelic-assisted therapy needs.

Becoming ready to offer psychedelic-assisted therapy takes real work: training, preparation, clinical protocols and a lot of care behind the scenes. Thank you to Dr. Bita and the whole team for the commitment, warmth and professionalism you brought to every step. We’re proud to welcome you to the ATMA CENA member clinic network.

For people in the Greater Montreal area exploring psychedelic-assisted therapy, there’s now a trusted, experienced team close to home.

Some massage appointments feel like a routine. The best ones feel like someone is really paying attention to how your body is doing.

Meagan Mazurek, RMT/LPN, has trained in both nursing and massage therapy. That combined clinical background gives her a well-rounded understanding of the body, which shows up in every session: she asks thoughtful questions, tailors each treatment to you, and works to make sure you feel heard, respected and comfortable throughout.

Meagan offers therapeutic, deep tissue, relaxation and cupping therapy at ATMA CENA Calgary. She treats the whole person, not just the sore spot, and works with you to build care around your own health and wellness goals.

Three days from now, ATMA CENA's fall advanced cohort begins. Three pathways — Clinical, Prescriber, and Integrative — all launching together, all built for professionals who want to bring psychedelic-assisted therapy into their scope of practice.

Whether you're a licensed therapist looking to expand your clinical toolkit, a prescriber who wants to understand what your patients are already asking about, or a wellness professional preparing to support clients responsibly in this space — your next opportunity to join us is our Winter cohort, with advanced courses beginning January 15th, 2027.

Every pathway begins with ATMA CENA's Foundations course. Every pathway leads somewhere real. And every graduate enters a growing community of practitioners doing this work across Canada.

If you've been on the fence, this is the moment.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and this year's theme is one that sits close to the work we do every day: "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change."

The mental health field has spent decades building frameworks, protocols, and treatment models. All of that matters... But the people who've actually walked through depression, PTSD, anxiety, addiction, or chronic pain — their perspective doesn't just "add to" the conversation. It shapes it. The best clinical work happens when practitioners listen before they intervene, and when the people receiving care feel heard before they feel treated.

At ATMA CENA, that principle runs through everything — from how our clinical teams approach intake, to how we train practitioners to hold space, to why integration is built into every treatment arc. The research is critical. The science is essential. But the voice of lived experience is what keeps both honest.

You don't have to figure this out alone.

If you're an addictions counsellor, coach, social worker, or holistic practitioner, chances are clients have already asked you about psychedelic-assisted therapy. The Integrative Pathway isn't about turning you into something you're not — it's about giving you the knowledge to engage those conversations responsibly.

The training covers safety and support practices, preparing clients for psychedelic experiences, harm reduction frameworks, cultural traditions around healing, and practical integration tools — all without asking you to step outside your scope of practice. For practitioners who graduate, the optional Holding Space Experiential offers a further, hands-on way to deepen that understanding.

The next cohort open is the Winter cohort, with advanced courses beginning January 15th 2027. If you've been waiting for a sign that this fits your practice, this is it.

We're thrilled to share that The Rooted Space, an ATMA CENA member clinic in Kitchener-Waterloo ON, is now officially offering psychedelic-assisted therapy.

A couple of weeks ago, a couple of ATMA CENA team members spent two days on site at The Rooted Space, sharing knowledge, talking through the work, and getting to know the incredible people behind this clinic.

Afterward, the team sent us this:

"I know our team will carry so much of what was shared forward in the work we do and in how we support our community."

That's why this network exists: so clinics don't have to do this work alone. We're grateful to walk alongside The Rooted Space as they open their doors!

Veterans carry a disproportionate share of the conditions psychedelic-assisted therapy is being studied for — PTSD, traumatic brain injury, depression, substance use, and chronic pain — often layered together rather than showing up one at a time. Standard treatment protocols, built around single-condition models, frequently fall short of that complexity.

This year, federal direction has moved to expand investigational research and extended-access programs specifically for veterans, covering several of these overlapping conditions under one coordinated effort rather than treating each in isolation. It's a meaningful shift: research and access programs built around a population whose needs rarely fit neatly into a single diagnosis.

For a group that has often been underserved by conventional mental health systems, this kind of coordinated, condition-spanning approach matters.

You became a therapist to help people through the hardest moments of their lives.
But some of those people aren't responding to the tools you were trained in... and you're intuitive enough to know it.

That's not a failure of effort. It's a signal that the field has moved, and your training can catch up. ATMA CENA's Clinical Pathway is designed for licensed therapists ready to bring psychedelic-assisted therapy into their practice — with the clinical structure, ethics framework, and supervised experience to do it responsibly.

The fall advanced cohort begins October 15. Amanda is a psychologist who spent a decade in traditional practice before she started asking what else was possible. The Clinical Pathway gave her the framework to bring evidence-based psychedelic-assisted therapy into her work with confidence.

If you've been thinking about this for a while, this is the cohort to stop thinking and start.

Speak with a student advisor or register now at atmacena.com/psychedelic-therapy-training. Today is the last day to join our Fall cohort.

Access to mental health care in this country was never left to chance. The gap between who can get support and who can't tracks a history most of us we re never taught properly.

In 2023 and 2024 we worked with Siksika Health Services on a small pilot on the nation.

They chose the model, the setting, who was in the group, and the pace. The phrase the team kept coming back to was "moving at the speed of trust," which in practice meant our timelines weren't the timelines. The knowledge that was shared and the capacity that was built stayed in the community instead of arriving with visitors and leaving with them. There was a three-week break in the middle for ceremony, a fair, a music festival and a Pow Wow, because the program was built around the community's life rather than the other way around.

We got things wrong too. Our scheduling didn't hold. The communication tools we assumed would work didn't, but phone calls and texts did. The pre-session guidance we brought wasn't written with the people in front of us in mind, and it should have been.

The full write-up is published in Frontiers in Psychiatry, co-authored with the Siksika Health Services team. Link below if you want to read it.

Today belongs to Survivors, to the children who never came home, and to the families and communities still living with what was done to them. We're spending it listening. And we're carrying forward the thing teaching that Siksika shared with taught us; which is to follow instead of lead.
