Home care nurses are essential to helping Ontarians age at home and supporting healthcare sustainability across the province.

As Ontario expands home and community care, workforce stability and fair compensation remain key to protecting access to quality care.

Investing in nurses means investing in healthier communities and stronger care at home.

As we wrap up Nursing week, we’re celebrating the impact nurses have on the people, families, and communities they serve every day.

For one client and his family, that impact was built over 20 years of community nursing. What began as care grew into something more, a relationship grounded in trust, compassion, and connection.

Through every visit, nurses showed up with patience and empathy, supporting not just physical needs, but helping the family feel more confident and capable at home. By bringing care closer to home, nurses supported their independence over time and helped them stay connected to what mattered most.

On one of the last visits, a simple moment between him and his nurse said everything, a quiet expression of gratitude, respect, and care.

This is the impact of nursing. Care that goes beyond the clinical, helping people live well, and Relationships that make people feel seen, supported, and understood.

Thank you to all nurses for the compassion, strength, and heart you bring to your work every day.
