Therapist Spotlight: John Paul (JP) Rimando, RMT/PTA & Clinic Owner

JP is a Humber College graduate as an Occupational/Physiotherapist Assistant. With a lifelong commitment to continuous learning, JP graduated from Sutherland-Chan (Toronto) and received his Massage Therapy Diploma, and has enriched his expertise through various courses and workshops. During his time in Neurochangers, the clinic has become renowned for its innovative approach to neurological care. JP’s extensive experience and unique treatment approach sets him apart from the field.

Beyond his professional expertise, JP is passionate about fitness, often found working out at the clinic before his shifts. His dedication to wellness extends to mentoring the next generation of therapists, having supervised and taught Student Clinics at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy.

Zeinab is a bilingual French and English Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in supporting adults with speech, language, and communication concerns. She completed her Master of Health Sciences in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Ottawa and is registered in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).

Zeinab has experience supporting individuals living with a range of neurological and medically complex conditions, including aphasia, cognitive-communication disorders, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and Huntington’s disease. She is a certified Speak Out! Provider, and her clinical experience also includes dysphagia assessment and management, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and communication partner training.

Zeinab is passionate about providing person-centred care and tailoring therapy to each individual’s goals, interests, and everyday communication needs. She enjoys creating accessible therapy materials, facilitating communication groups, and helping clients build confidence in their ability to communicate.

Outside of the clinic, Zeinab loves the arts and enjoys creating unique pieces using unconventional materials such as concrete and twine.

September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month. Spinal cord injuries can present in a variety of different ways depending on what area of the spinal cord the injury occurs.

Exercise is an important part of the recovery process and there are a lot of adaptive equipment options available.

EXCITING NEWS!!!

Starting in September, we’ll be offering Speech-Language Pathology services at our Toronto clinic!

Speech-language pathology supports communication, voice, and swallowing for individuals experiencing difficulties following neurological conditions or acquired injuries.

Areas of focus include:

• Stroke, traumatic brain injury and motor-vehicle accident rehabilitation

• Parkinson’s voice therapy

• Dysphagia (swallowing)

• Rehabilitation of cognitive-linguistic abilities such as organization, sequencing and impulsivity/inhibition

• Cognitive communication (memory, attention, auditory processing, executive function disorder

• Stutter

• Professional speaking development

Therapist Spotlight: Cassie Day, R.Kin

Cassie is a Registered Kinesiologist with a passion for helping people reach their health and fitness goals through holistic means. Cassie holds a Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from Brock University. Then, wishing to continue her education and gain more practical experience, Cassie completed the Post-Graduate Exercise Science & Lifestyle Management program at Humber College, and graduated with honours. While at Humber, she had the opportunity to complete an internship at NeuroChangers and loved it so much she never left!

Cassie is also a Prenatal and Postnatal Fitness Specialist, certified PoNS trainer, a BoneFit Trained Professional, and a PWR!Moves Certified Therapist.. To date Cassie has completed additional course work and certifications in Kinesio-Taping, Soft Tissue Release, HeartWise Exercise certification, and has completed Intro to the Bobath Concept for Healthcare Workers, Introduction to Non-Internal Pelvic Health, and Non-Internal Treatment Considerations for the Pregnant and Postpartum Population.

In her free time Cassie can be found chasing her daughter around and trying to squeeze in some baking, outside time, and trying to stay active.
