We are so happy to welcome Rachel to the NeuroChangers team! Rachel will be in the clinic on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, give us a call to book an assessment on her schedule! 🗓️

Rachel earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Queen’s University, where she built a strong foundation in human movement and developed a growing interest in rehabilitation. During her undergraduate degree, she worked closely with individuals with both mental and physical disabilities, an experience that sparked her passion for supporting neurological populations. She later completed her Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University in Australia, gaining valuable experience working with both musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, specifically spinal cord rehabilitation and acquired brain injury rehabilitation.
Rachel has experience supporting individuals with a variety of injuries and conditions, using an exercise-based and educational approach to help clients return to the activities that matter most to them. She is passionate about delivering evidence-based care and takes a collaborative, patient-centred approach that empowers clients to take an active role in their recovery and long-term health.

Outside of her clinical work, Rachel enjoys staying active through running, swimming, strength training, and playing soccer. She also values time spent travelling, exploring new places, and being outdoors.

Last week we had the pleasure of having Anton Machula and Dr. Lauren Sergio come and give us a demo of the Otrada. The Otrada is a game based cognitive therapy device that uses augmented reality to challenge dual tasking.

Watch as our team challenges their brains and works through the augmented reality environment to beat the challenges

Thanks to Karen and Piper for demonstrating some of the important work that dog guides can do! Piper is able to help with mobility tasks such as retrieving clothing items and shoes to assist with dressing, opening doors, retrieving assistive devices and dropped items. Dog guides are able to provide individuals living with disabilities independence, confidence and safety that is invaluable for quality of life.

On May 31st the Walk for Dog Guides is helping raise funds to support the cost of training dog guides and so that organizations can continue to provide dog guides at no cost to those in need. Did you know that training a single dog guide can cost $35,000? If you’d like to help participate, volunteer or fundraiser to help support dog guides visit www.walkfordogguides.com
