Recently, we celebrated World Embryologist Day, a day where we can observe the remarkable work of our in vitro fertilisation (IVF) team at the Priory!

This day also marks the birth of Louise Brown, the first baby born through IVF, now 48 years ago. This gives us an opportunity to honour the scientific milestones that have made IVF treatment possible.

Endometriosis is a condition that causes tissue to grow outside of the uterus and affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth in the UK.

There are 4 types of endometriosis:
1. Peritoneal endometriosis - when tissue grows on the lining of the abdomen and around surrounding organs
2. Ovarian endometriosis - cysts called endometriomas are found in the ovaries
3. Deep endometriosis - this type is found in locations such as the bladder, bowel, and tissue separating the va**na
4. Extra-pelvic endometriosis - found outside of the pelvis, such as in the chest or on caesarean scars

At The Priory Hospital, we have a multitude of experts that will listen to your concerns, investigate your symptoms and find the best course of action for your condition

We put our patients at the heart of everything we do and we are always pleased to hear about their recent experience at The Priory Hospital.

I had an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. The staff were accommodating and lovely, the food was exquisite, and the whole experience was professional yet endearing. It was an absolute privilege to stay at this hospital, I felt safe and assured the entire time.”
