Phil, may you rest in peace and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” ❤️

Today at Trent Valley Crematorium, Matt and the team were honoured to care for a loving husband, dad, grandad, brother and friend on his final journey.

The small personal touches mean so much. In honour of Phil’s beloved football team, the coffin was engraved and Matt and the family proudly wore red.

Thank you for allowing us to give Phil the farewell he truly deserved.

Today, in the 30°C heat, Matt and the team continued to provide the utmost love, care, and support to families across the Derbyshire community.

From a heartfelt service at Trent Valley Crematorium where a family laid their beloved mother to rest just 12 weeks after the heartbreaking loss of her lifelong soulmate, to a peaceful ashes interment at All Saints Church, it was a day centred around compassion, dignity, and remembrance.

To be entrusted with guiding families through such difficult moments is a true privilege, and we are honoured to walk beside them every step of the way.

Losing a partner or parent is one of life’s greatest heartbreaks, and to lose both parents within the space of a few months can place an unimaginable strain on a family. To be entrusted to care not only for one loved one, but for both, is a privilege that reflects the trust, respect, and connection we are honoured to build with the families we serve.

Here at Fellows, we had the honour of guiding a family through such a difficult time. A beautiful and dignified service was held at All Saints Church in Mickleover for a much-loved mum, grandma, and great-grandma. We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved soulmate.

As a touching mark of love and respect, a single red rose that had originally been placed on her husband’s bed when he passed were carefully included within her coffin spray. A symbol of togetherness, everlasting love, and comfort for the family on such an emotional day.

Today, Matt and the team were privileged to support and guide a family as they said farewell to a much-loved Father and Grandad on his final journey.

We had the privilege of doing something a little special for a family in our care.

We began with a truly heartfelt service at Davenport Road Evangelical Church, followed by a private cremation. Although no family were able to be present, we made sure their loved one was never alone.

At the heart of what we do is dignity and respect. Using the hearse, with full bearers and our team alongside, we honoured them in the way every person deserves with care, compassion, and pride.

Because every life matters, and every goodbye should be meaningful, no matter the circumstances.

Thank you for allowing us to love and care for you on your final journey

The sun was well and truly shining for you today, a soft and fitting tribute to a life filled with love.

At the family’s request, your love of lilac was reflected throughout every detail of the service. From Matt wearing a lilac tie and pin, to the beautiful floral tributes and even the delicate flower cards, everything spoke of you and what you meant to those who love you.

As we always try to do, your perfume was gently sprayed onto your flowers, a familiar and comforting scent, a quiet reminder of you for all who were there.

It has been an honour to stand beside your family, to support them, and to help create a farewell so personal and full of meaning.

Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you on this journey.

As the time of year changes, with the sun shining a little brighter and the days growing warmer, we’ve taken the opportunity to plant some new flowers outside our funeral home.

What makes them even more special is that they’ve been planted using compost mixed with the letters you’ve all written to remember your loved ones. A small but meaningful way to keep those words, thoughts and memories close, helping something beautiful to grow.

To see so many families continuing to use our Letters to Heaven post box on a regular basis is truly heartwarming. It’s a reminder that comfort and connection isn’t just needed on anniversaries or special dates, but all year round.

Please remember, our Letters to Heaven post box is located in the porch of our funeral home and is available 24/7. And even if we haven’t cared for your loved one, it is there for absolutely everyone to use.

As the sun begins to set this evening, Matt and the team have gently brought a lady into our care.

Only a few short months ago, we had the honour of caring for her beloved husband. Tonight, there is a quiet comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with the love of her life.

In a small moment of reflection, Matt played one of the songs from her husband’s funeral, a simple gesture, but one that brought a sense of calm and inner peace as Matt carried out his duties.

It’s often the little things that make the biggest difference.

Today was a reminder that caring for families doesn’t stop when the working week ends. Funerals aren’t just Monday to Friday, they happen when families need them most, and it was our honour to be there on a Saturday to support and guide another family through such an important day.

After the service, we were able to take the beautiful floral tributes and donate them to the care home their loved one once called home. A small gesture, but one that brings a little comfort, colour, and connection back to a place filled with memories.

Moments like this show that what we do goes far beyond a single day, it’s about continuing care, compassion, and respect in every detail.

May you rest in peace Grandad Bob.

I’ve always known how much care and professionalism goes into a funeral, but experiencing it from the front row as a family member is something entirely different. It feels strange sitting there, not guiding, but grieving, while still knowing I have a responsibility to carry out.

It’s hard to switch between roles, but I know I did it for him.

Everything was just how he would have wanted. The flowers were stunning and so personal, celebrating his love for Burton Albion, a true reflection of who he was.

And the wake, with its beautiful view of the pitch, couldn’t have been more fitting. It brought a sense of comfort knowing we were close to something he loved so much.

A difficult day, but a special one too. I’ll carry both the pride and the sadness with me for a long time.

With love Grandad Bob 💛 🖤
