🔥 Energy is not simply something we feel. It is something our biology is constantly producing, regulating and using. 🔥
We talk about energy as something we either have or don't have.
“I have no energy"
“I feel full of energy"
"I have nothing left to give"
But underneath that experience is an incredibly complex biological system, and mitochondria sit at the centre of how our cells produce usable energy.
What I find particularly interesting is what happens when we stop looking at these systems in isolation.
Because the body doesn't experience things in separate categories.
Training.
Competition.
Stress.
Recovery.
Emotion.
Sleep.
Environment.
They're all influencing the same living system.
And this is where somatic work becomes particularly interesting.
Somatics brings our attention to what is happening within the body;
activation, tension, fatigue, sensation, effort, recovery and regulation.
It gives us a way of working with the body as a whole, rather than simply asking it to perform, push through or switch off.
For me, this is about exploring the relationship between "science" and "somatics & energetics".
The measurable and the felt.
The cellular and the whole body.
The physiology and our lived experience.
And that relationship has huge relevance to how we think about energy, performance, recovery, resilience and wellbeing. ✨
Because understanding the body isn't only about understanding its parts.
It's about understanding how the whole system communicates, adapts and responds.
