Twenty people in one trial, thousands in another, different phases, the same drug and the same disease... It's all pretty confusing!
You may have heard of "phase 1, phase 2, phase 3" when it comes to , and each phase is simply answering a completely different question about the treatment.
By the time a treatment's approved, it's been through years of these separate, narrower questions, each one needing its own scale of trial to answer properly. Understanding what each phase is actually checking for hopefully makes that whole process a little less confusing.
