A splash of colour and a lot of happy faces at Hillside Nursing Home this week 🎨💜

Our wonderful residents enjoyed an afternoon of painting alongside some of their loved ones, with brushes in hand and plenty of smiles around the table. It was lovely to see everyone getting creative together and sharing a few laughs along the way 😊

A big thank you to all the family members who joined us. The artwork was wonderful, but the time spent together was even more special 💜

🥁⚽Yesterday at Hillside Nursing Home we had such a fun and lively session with our Yoga Ball Drumstick Exercises, and the energy in the room was wonderful to see.

Our wonderful residents joined in at their own pace, tapping along to the rhythm with drumsticks and yoga balls, with lots of laughter, encouragement, and smiles shared throughout the group 💜

It was a lovely way to get everyone moving while also supporting coordination, strength, and concentration, all wrapped up in an activity that felt more like fun than exercise 😊

May was full of lovely moments across our homes, from getting outdoors in the sunshine to spending time together over tea and cake 💜

We celebrated World Baking Day with homemade treats, got moving for National Walking Month and loved taking part in Time for a Cuppa with Dementia UK , where simple chats over a brew turned into special moments ☕

We also marked Dementia Action Week, helping spark conversations and raise awareness, celebrated cultures and stories from around the world, and took time on International Nurses Day to thank the incredible nurses who care for our residents every day 🌍

And with the warmer weather finally arriving, National BBQ Week gave us the perfect excuse to enjoy good food and great company outdoors ☀️

We had a truly special celebration at Hillside Nursing Home as we marked David’s 79th birthday yesterday🎂💜

David spent the day surrounded by our wonderful residents, staff, friends and family, enjoying a beautiful cake, plenty of singing and lots of smiles all round as everyone came together to celebrate his big day 😊

There was also a lovely video presentation sharing memories from David’s life, which made the afternoon even more meaningful, along with some delicious food and a bit of dancing to keep the celebrations going 🎶💃

There was plenty of friendly competition around the tables at Hillside Nursing Home during our Mind Games afternoon 🎲😊

From carefully planned Scrabble words to steady hands during Jenga and a few competitive rounds of Dominoes, our residents had such a lovely time together. There were lots of laughs, plenty of teamwork and a few surprise winners along the way 💙

It is always so nice seeing everyone encouraging one another and enjoying those simple moments together 🧩

We welcomed a very lovely visitor, Koda, from Essex Therapy Dogs who popped in to see our wonderful residents at Hillside Nursing Home 🐶💜

A huge thank you to handler, Amy and Koda, the gentle Bernese Mountain Dog, who were a big hit with our residents. He had such a calm and loving nature and we saw so many smiles light up the room as he walked in and had cuddles. We think it is safe to say that Koda made lots of new friends!

April didn’t feel like one big moment across our homes, but lots of smaller ones and that’s what made it so special 💜

There were Easter crafts, feasts, time spent outside as the weather picked up, and plenty of conversations sparked along the way. We also took time to recognise Autism Acceptance Week and Parkinson’s Awareness Week, creating space to learn, reflect and support one another.

St George’s Day brought a bit of fun and familiarity too, with simple touches that made people smile 🏴

It’s these everyday moments that shape life in our homes, not just the celebrations, but the time spent together in between.

A big thank you, as always, to our teams for everything they do to make those moments happen

March has been a truly special month across our homes, filled with meaningful celebrations and shared experiences that have brought residents and teams together ✨

From raising awareness during Nutrition and Hydration Week to enjoying the energy and fun of St Patrick’s Day, there has been something for everyone to take part in. We also proudly celebrated International Women’s Day, recognising the inspiring women within our communities, and marked Mother’s Day with thoughtful moments of love, gratitude, and reflection 🌷 🚺 🍎 🍀

Life across our 46 homes is shaped by these moments, both big and small. They create a sense of belonging, spark conversation, and bring joy to everyday life, making each home a vibrant and supportive place to live 🏡💜

Behind every celebration is the dedication and care of our incredible teams, whose passion continues to create engaging and meaningful experiences for our residents 👏💜
