What the actual f**k! Why would any LGBTQ+ person support a party that has repeatedly targeted our community? From withdrawing Pride funding in Reform-led councils, to the controversies around LGBTQ+ books in libraries, to the rhetoric we continue to hear. You don't have to agree with every aspect of LGBTQ+ politics, but why support a party that seems so determined to make our lives harder? I feel really sad reading this.

Today I'm at Stockport Pride, where I'll be singing with my LGBTQ+ choir.

Waking up to the news from Berlin has been heartbreaking. One person has lost their life and many others have been injured after a vehicle was driven into crowds at Berlin Pride.

It feels like yet another stark reminder that Pride is about so much more than celebrations. Perhaps now more than it has been for many years, Pride matters. Visibility matters. Community matters. Standing together matters.

If you're at a Pride event today, look after each other, celebrate safely, and never underestimate the power of simply showing up.

Why Pride remains essential in 2026. Exploring minority stress, LGBTQ+ rights, trans inclusion, conversion practices, rising prejudice and the importance of community and visibility.

But of course books representing straight families and lives are perfectly fine. Double standards and blatant discrimination. At this rate we are heading down the route of the USA and only some council areas will be safe for LGBTQ+ people.
