Residents at Abbey View enjoyed a fascinating trip into the past with the latest Memory Box from Weymouth Museum.

Millie, granddaughter of resident Patrick, joined the session as part of her Duke of Edinburgh's Award volunteering, helping residents explore a collection of historic newspapers.

She and Sheila Yates were particularly interested in copies of The Daily Telegraph from 1939 and The Daily Echo from 1945. The 1939 newspaper, which reported the declaration of the Second World War, prompted plenty of thoughtful conversations and memories.

A wonderful example of how an old newspaper can open the door to stories, memories and conversations across generations. ❤️

A perfect summer's evening at Abbey View! 🧀🍷☀️

Twenty-one residents enjoyed an alfresco cheese and wine evening in the garden, complete with delicious refreshments, plenty of conversation and a fun quiz led by HCA Danni.

The laughter, friendly competition and warm summer sunshine made for a truly memorable evening.

Margaret summed it up perfectly: “I wish we could do this every day! It was so lovely to come and sit outside and enjoy cheese & wine and good conversation!” 💛

We're already looking forward to doing it all again in August!

Wishing Rose a wonderful day! 💒❤️

Our amazing resident Rose, aged 97, looked fabulous as she headed off to celebrate her grandson's wedding with her family.

As she left Abbey View, she couldn't resist leaving us with a smile, saying:

"Behave whilst I'm away!" 😊

We hope you have the most wonderful day, Rose. We can't wait to hear all about the celebrations when you're back!

A very special family reunion at Abbey View ❤️

Ahead of her 99th birthday, Margaret was delighted to spend the day with her younger sister Dorothy, who travelled all the way from just outside London by train to celebrate together.

The sisters enjoyed lunch, an afternoon in the garden, and plenty of laughter while reminiscing about their childhood. Margaret summed up the day beautifully:

"I wish Dorothy could stay over and we could sleep head to toe like we used to do as little girls. I have so enjoyed having her with me."

A wonderful day full of love, memories and family.

🍦🎶 We had a wonderful time celebrating National Ice Cream Day at Abbey View!

Our dining room was transformed into a retro ice cream parlour, complete with the sounds of 1940s and 50s rock 'n' roll, as residents tucked into their favourite flavours with plenty of sauces, sprinkles and chocolate flakes 🍨✨

The afternoon was filled with laughter, conversation and happy memories, with residents sharing stories of summers gone by while enjoying a welcome treat in the warm weather 💙

A wonderful day for birdwatching! 🐦

Roy’s love of birds inspired a trip to RSPB Radipole Lake, where he and fellow bird enthusiast Paul enjoyed spotting and identifying wildlife from the Lakeside Café.

With binoculars, bird books and plenty of enthusiasm, the pair had a peaceful afternoon taking in the views and the feedback has already inspired plans for another visit!

Mondays are made for movement at Abbey View! 💪

Residents enjoy their weekly Sit & Strengthen chair exercises with Craig from Communifit, combining gentle exercise with plenty of laughter and friendly conversation.

Pat, Liz and Brian are regular attendees and love the benefits of keeping active while having fun together.
