How to lower your risk of contracting cyclosporiasis!

The CDC is continuing to investigate several outbreaks of cyclosporiasis across multiple U.S. states. Here are steps you can take to help protect your family from the parasite. And remember: Careful washing of produce may not completely remove Cyclospora but it can help reduce risk. Some influencers are promoting beef tallow and other natural oils as alternatives to sunscreen, claiming that these provide enough protection from harmful UV rays. However, research shows that animal-derived fats like beef tallow provide essentially no meaningful UV protection. A broad-spectrum sunscreen rated at 30 SPF or higher should always be used to protect skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3ydb9nb

Before the Fourth of July weekend begins, take a moment to think about how to celebrate safely—especially if fireworks, swimming and grilling are in your plans.

🎆 Handle fireworks responsibly—follow local laws, keep a safe distance from crowds, have a water source nearby and keep them out of the reach of children.

🏖️ Practice constant supervision at the beach and pool—children and even adults should never swim alone.

🌭 Cookout with care—never leave a hot grill or firepit unattended and keep grills away from dry grass and anything flammable.

☀️ Protect yourself from the heat—drink plenty of water and take breaks in the shade or indoors.

Most importantly, look out for one another and enjoy a safe holiday weekend.

Since March 2010, Jamie has been the glue behind the scenes, helping to hold everything together. She has always gone above and beyond for our Elizabeth Pediatrics team and the families we are privileged to care for. We cannot thank her enough for her years of clinical knowledge, hard work and unwavering commitment to our office. 💪🏽

Gigi, you are truly one of a kind! 💕 We are incredibly grateful for everything you have done for our physicians, staff, patients and their families over the past 16 years!
