We're continuing to bust common mental health myths this Mental Health Awareness Month.

Myth: I should be able to handle this on my own, it's just a normal life change.

Fact: "Normal" transitions like graduating, moving, getting married, having a baby, changing careers, or retiring are some of the most stressful events humans experience.

Just because something is common doesn't mean it's easy. These milestones often involve shifts in identity, routine, relationships, and expectations, all at once.

🌿 Myth: A therapist will never understand my background or culture.

✨ Fact: A good therapist sees your culture as a source of strength and context β€” not something to be fixed. Your background, traditions, family dynamics, and community shape who you are, and the right therapist will honor that.

If a therapist doesn't, they're not the right therapist for you, and that's worth knowing. You deserve care that sees the full picture of who you are.

Sometimes the highest-achieving people, the ones who look like they have it all together, are actually suffering from anxiety.

The engine driving that success isn't passion or peace. It's a relentless, buzzing roar of anxiety.

This is the reality of High-Functioning Anxiety (HFA). From the outside, it looks like ambition, productivity, and "having it all together." On the inside, it can feel like exhaustion, perfectionism, racing thoughts, and the constant fear of falling behind.
