Experience the soothing, calming, rejuvenating sounds of gong this coming Sunday with Raj.

Group Sound Baths provide an opportunity to re-set, ground, center, and allow your brain to relax into an alpha or theta-dominant brainwave state. The result is that you’ll feel calmer, happier, and less anxious after a session.

Studies show reduced symptoms of depression and other health benefits including improved immune function and stress reduction.

Gong baths promote an emotional detox effect resulting in decreased tension, anger, and fatigue, possibly due to suppression of the fight-or-flight response.

Register on-line, call the office, or just show up by 2:00 pm @ Urban Acupuncture Center.

The taiji symbol, which depicts yin & yang, is ubiquitous, but what does it mean? Why is it synonymous with Eastern philosophy & acupuncture?

To simplify, it is about balance. Opposite polarities held in perfect cooperation.

Dark and light
Cool and warm
Interior and exterior
Hibernation and growth

These are just a few examples of opposites in the natural world which maintain balance. The body works daily to maintain homeostasis as well. When it is thrown off balance, series pathologies or conditions can develop over time.

This is where acupuncture can help. Acupuncture can nourish yin and move yang to stimulate your body's return to balance.

If you love springtime, but not the allergies that come with it, we have great news-Acupuncture can help!

Acupuncture is proven to help nudge the body towards equilibrium when it is out of balance. This works with allergies as well. Acupuncture can also help modulate cytokine and histamine production, two of the main culprits causing runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, sinus congestion & fatigue.

Dis-regulated cytokine or histamine responses can lead to a breakdown in the system. Acupuncture can help decrease inflammation & signal the body to equalize.

Going through cancer treatment can take a toll on both the body and mind. Acupuncture is one of many tools in a multi-disciplinary approach that can help relieve cancer treatment side effects.

While not studied as extensively as western medicine, acupuncture has been shown to help reduce: nausea & vomiting, muscle & joint pain caused by aromatase inhibitors, chemotherapy induced neuropathy, and fatigue.

Additionally, acupuncture can improve: sleep, saliva production as a result of dry mouth, and overall quality of life.

Anxiety, depression, and stress are often secondary to a cancer diagnosis. Acupuncture can support these conditions to improve mood and alleviate stress. If you are a partner or caregiver of a person with cancer, acupuncture can support you as well.

We know many of you want to try acupuncture, but still have a lingering fear of needles. Take it from the late, great Catherine O'Hara...there is no need to be afraid of acupuncture needles!

Acupuncture needles are not like other needles. They are thin, flexible, and provide relief for myriad symptoms that may be negatively impacting quality of life.

The iconic image of a bear emerging from its den to welcome spring is a perfect metaphor for how traditional Chinese Medicine frames SPRING as well.

Spring is associated with the wood element, representing new growth & beginnings.

Additionally it is linked to the liver, the organ which cleanses, rejuvenates, and rids the body of toxins.

Did you know that acupuncture, cupping therapy, massage & reiki can support your body as it transitions from winter to spring?

Reset, boost energy, detox, and cultivate a healthier mind, body, and spirit this season. And don't forget to frolic outside!

Happy Spring!
