🏈❤️💛 The Cy-Hawk Tailgate at Wesley on Grand was a hit! 💛❤️🏈

Our team members and residents had a wonderful time coming together to celebrate one of Iowa’s favorite college football traditions—the Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes going head-to-head this weekend!

There was plenty of fun, laughter, team spirit and, most importantly, connection. Events like this are such a great reminder that creating meaningful opportunities for residents and team members to come together is what makes our community so special. ❤️

What a great way to stay connected, build relationships and enjoy a little friendly Iowa rivalry! 🏈🙌

What does community really mean?

At Wesley on Grand, we take the word community very seriously.

Yes, we have a close-knit community within our walls—our residents and team members know one another, support one another, celebrate together, and genuinely care about each other.

But community doesn’t stop at our front doors.

One of the things that truly differentiates Wesley on Grand from other senior living communities is the way we intentionally connect our residents with the broader Des Moines community.

Our doors are open.

More than 200 community members who don’t live at Wesley on Grand choose to be part of our fitness center. They work out alongside our residents, build relationships, and become familiar faces within our community.

Our Dahl Adult Day Center provides services and connection beyond our residential community.

Our fine dining restaurant, Vita, and the Chamberlain Pub welcome members of the public to dine, gather, celebrate, and enjoy experiences alongside our residents.

And Grand Creations, our Aveda salon, serves both our residents and the broader community.

This is what community is supposed to look like.

It’s not about creating a place that is separate from the world. It’s about creating a place where the world can come in.

And for our residents who may no longer be able to participate independently in the broader community, we have the opportunity to bring the community to them.

That connection matters.

It creates energy.
It creates purpose.
It creates relationships.
And most importantly, it reminds us that aging doesn’t mean becoming disconnected from the community around us.

Wesley on Grand isn’t just a place where people live. It’s a place where people come together.

That is community. ❤️

Today, Amy Bassett, Sales Director at Wesley on Grand, had the opportunity to meet Will Keeps, CEO and founder of Starts Right Here, right here at Wesley on Grand.

Many Iowans recognize Will for his dedication to helping at-risk youth and creating opportunities for young people facing difficult circumstances. Through mentoring, tutoring, hip-hop, music, the arts, and safe spaces, Starts Right Here works to break down barriers and help young people build brighter futures.

We’re proud to be part of a community filled with people who are passionate about making a positive difference. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and celebrate the incredible work happening throughout our community.
