One of the hardest parts of being someone everyone can count on is that every “yes” often costs you something no one else sees.

The extra hour you didn’t really have.
The lunch break you skipped.
The workout you promised yourself.
The quiet evening you needed.
The mental energy you were already running low on.
The time with your family.
The opportunity to simply be.

Most people only experience your “yes.”
They don’t experience what you quietly gave up in order to offer it. Over time, those small sacrifices can become so familiar that you stop noticing them altogether. Until one day you realize you’ve become incredibly reliable for everyone else…

…while becoming increasingly unavailable to yourself.

One of the hardest things about being a high-achieving woman is that there is almost always something else you could be doing.

One more email.
One more load of laundry.
One more problem to solve.
One more person to check in on.
One more thing to cross off the list.

So when you finally have a quiet moment…
Your brain doesn’t experience it as permission to rest.
It experiences it as an opportunity to catch up.
Over time, you become incredibly skilled at responding to everyone else’s needs.

The text.
The deadline.
The request.
The crisis.
The forgotten permission slip.
The friend who’s struggling.

But when your own body quietly asks for rest…
It’s surprisingly easy to tell yourself, “Not yet.”
Not because you don’t believe rest matters.
Not because you think other people deserve it more.
But because somewhere along the way, responding to yourself stopped feeling as urgent as responding to everyone else.
And the hardest part is…You may not even notice it’s happening anymore.

One of the quietest burdens many high-achieving women carry is the belief that they have to earn love. Not by asking for it. But by performing for it. Being helpful. Being successful. Being easy to be around. Being responsible. Being the one who has it all together.

Over time, it can become difficult to separate who you are from what you do for other people.
So when you make a mistake…
Need support…
Disappoint someone…
Or simply don’t have the energy to keep performing…
It can begin to feel as though the relationship itself is what’s on the line.

The truth is, your value has never been determined by your productivity, your perfection, or your ability to hold everything together.

You were always worthy of love. Even when you stop performing for it.

People often only see the parts of you that are functioning.
They see that you’re capable.
Responsible.
Reliable.
The one who gets things done.

What they don’t always see is how much effort it takes to keep all of that going.
The mental load.
The emotional labor.
The constant calculations.
The way your brain rarely seems to stop running in the background.

Sometimes people assume you’re doing fine because you’re managing. But managing and thriving are not the same thing.
And being capable doesn’t mean you’re not carrying more than you were meant to carry alone.

One of the hardest things about being a "chronic doer" is that the finish line keeps moving.

You answer the email.
Then another one arrives.
You solve the problem.
Then a new one appears.
You finally make it through a busy season.
Then life hands you the next thing to carry.

For many women, the challenge isn’t knowing they need rest.
It’s feeling like they can rest before everything is done.
Before everyone is taken care of.
Before every responsibility is handled.
Before they’ve earned it.

So they keep pushing.
Keep carrying.
Keep telling themselves they’ll slow down later.
And later rarely comes.

At The Red Door, we work with women who are tired of living in that cycle.

Not because they need more discipline.
Not because they need another productivity strategy.
But because they’re ready to build a relationship with themselves that doesn’t require exhaustion as proof that they’re doing enough.

Less pressure. More practice.

What if you didn’t need another tip today?

Not another podcast.
Not another book.
Not another productivity system.
Not another thing to remember.

Just a moment to notice.

Right now, take a look around the space you’re in.
Without changing anything, ask yourself:

What feels supportive in this moment?

Maybe it’s your coffee.
Maybe it’s the sunlight coming through a window.
Maybe it’s your dog asleep nearby.
Maybe it’s simply the fact that you’ve made it this far through the day.

That’s it.

No mindset shift.
No lesson.
No action plan.

Just noticing.
Sometimes the smallest shift isn’t adding something new.
It’s reconnecting with something that’s already here.

What feels supportive to you today?

Welcome to The Red Door Therapy & Wellness Solutions

I created The Red Door for high-achieving, busy-brained women who are tired of carrying everything alone while quietly running on empty.

Many of the women I support are thoughtful, capable, deeply caring people navigating:
• burnout
• anxiety
• overwhelm
• perfectionism
• overthinking
• people-pleasing
• emotional exhaustion
• nervous system overload
• and the pressure to keep functioning while struggling internally

At The Red Door, the goal is not to help you become “better” at surviving impossible levels of stress.

It’s to help you begin creating a life that feels more sustainable, connected, flexible, and grounded in real life.

Current offerings include:

🌿 Online individual & group therapy across Colorado & Indiana
🌿 Evening & weekend appointments for busy schedules
🌿 Walk & Talk wellness experiences
🌿 ACT-based groups, workshops, and courses available wherever you are
🌿 Nervous-system-aware support focused on small sustainable shifts that actually stick
🌿 Workplace wellness solutions for burnout-prone professions and organizations

A big part of my work centers around helping people move beyond endless self-help consumption and toward meaningful real-life integration.

Less pressure.
More practice.
One small step at a time.

I stepped away from social media for a while because I realized I was becoming part of the same overwhelm I was trying to help people heal from.

More noise.
More pressure.
More content to consume.
More advice telling exhausted humans how to optimize themselves.

That never felt aligned with the kind of work I actually believe in.

I say that not just as a therapist & business owner, but as a former school principal and high-achieving woman who knows what it feels like to keep showing up for everyone else while quietly losing connection with yourself.

So I’m returning differently.

Less pressure to keep up.
Less information overload.
More space for reflection, nervous-system-aware support, and small real-life shifts that actually stick.

Much of my work through The Red Door originally began with educators navigating burnout, overwhelm, and emotional exhaustion. But over time, I realized these same patterns reach far beyond the classroom.

I see them in high-achieving women everywhere:
the helpers,
the overthinkers,
the people pleasers,
the ones quietly carrying too much while still trying to hold everything together.

Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing more through the lens of the Discover → Grow → Integrate™ framework we use at The Red Door Therapy & Wellness Solutions.

Not just insight.
Not just motivation.
But practical, compassionate support for busy-brained, emotionally overloaded humans who are tired of surviving on autopilot.

You do not need to consume everything here.

Maybe just one idea.
One pause.
One small step that helps you feel a little more connected to yourself again.

That’s enough.
