Starting the week with movement can set the tone for wellness, energy, and engagement.

Our Morning Movement group gives residents the opportunity to begin their programming week through purposeful activity — whether that’s a guided community walk, circuit strength training, or a combination of both.

The goal is simple: get moving. But the impact goes beyond exercise. Through movement, residents can build healthy routines, improve mood and energy, and strengthen the connection between physical and emotional wellbeing.

At ClearView Communities, building wellness also means strengthening cognitive skills, creativity, and confidence.

Our Mind Arcade group offers residents engaging ways to challenge their thinking through computer-based brain games, logic puzzles, word searches, table games, and creative collaboration opportunities. Residents can track progress over time, sharpen problem-solving skills, and explore activities that stimulate curiosity and mental flexibility.

Mind Arcade also provides opportunities to contribute to the ClearView Communities resident newsletter through art, poetry, recipes, and new ideas — reinforcing self-expression, community involvement, and personal voice.

It’s a group designed to wake up the mind and prepare residents to take on the day with confidence.

Please join us in celebrating Joyce Whall, ClearView Communities’ June Employee of the Month—and a truly unforgettable member of our team.

Joyce served in many roles throughout her time at ClearView Communities, including Hiring Manager and Senior House Manager. She brought deep knowledge, compassion, humor, and an unmistakable spark to every role she held. Whether she was supporting residents, advocating for coworkers, helping fill a staffing need, managing a home, interviewing candidates, or welcoming new team members through orientation, Joyce consistently showed up with dedication and heart.

Her colleagues shared that Joyce is a “wealth of knowledge,” a trusted advocate for residents and Recovery Coaches, and someone who could bring laughter to even the most stressful day. One nomination captured it perfectly: “She did everything with her own flair, and it was a breath of fresh air.”

Thank you, Joyce, for the energy, compassion, wisdom, and joy you brought to ClearView Communities. Congratulations! 💙

One of the most important lessons within our Wellness Program has been the power of giving residents ownership over their wellness journey. 💪🏀
Instead of focusing on what someone “should” do, sessions now begin with one simple question: “What do you want to get into today?”

That shift created greater participation, stronger engagement, and more confidence among residents. Some discovered a passion for strength training and continued their fitness journey even after discharge. Others found connection and symptom management through basketball games with peers at the YMCA of Frederick County and in the community.

At ClearView Communities, wellness is not about perfection — it’s about helping young adults build routines, confidence, connection, and coping skills that support lifelong mental health.

Our Meditation group creates space to slow down, reconnect, and ground ourselves in what supports healing. 🌿✨

Through mindfulness, seasonal awareness, body wisdom, and intentional reflection, residents practice ways of calming the mind, connecting with themselves, and cultivating thoughts that nurture wellbeing.

Sometimes growth begins with simply taking a moment to pause, notice, and breathe. 💚

Our Occupational Therapy team is excited to launch a 7-week Wellness Journey through our “Tools 2 Thrive groups.” Each week, residents will explore one of the seven dimensions of wellness, discussing how it applies to their own lives and developing practical strategies they can use every day.

🧩 Our Wellness Journey Includes:

* Week 1: Social Wellness
* Week 2: Physical Wellness
* Week 3: Spiritual Wellness
* Week 4: Financial Wellness
* Week 5: Emotional Wellness
* Week 6: Environmental Wellness
* Week 7: Intellectual Wellness

Each Monday, residents will learn about that week’s wellness dimension through discussion, reflection, and brainstorming. On Thursdays, they’ll put those concepts into action with hands-on exercises and practical activities designed to support lasting change.

This journey will also include collaboration with our Physical Wellness group and Environmental Wellness group, reinforcing the importance of whole-person care and interdisciplinary support.

We’re looking forward to seeing our residents discover new strengths, build healthy habits, and develop tools that support lifelong wellness.

This achievement reflects our commitment to providing high-quality, resident-centered care and helping young adults build meaningful, independent lives.

🐝🏨 Check out our newest residents—the pollinators! 🏨🐝

As part of a Bay-Wise Certification project in Occupational Therapy, our residents built insect hotels to provide safe nesting habitats for beneficial insects like native bees and other pollinators.

These insect hotels were placed near pollen-rich flowers and bee watering stations that residents also helped create, making them the perfect stop for hardworking pollinators. 🌼💧🐝

Projects like this give residents the opportunity to learn new skills, work together, connect with nature, and make a positive impact on the environment around them.

We're so proud of the creativity, teamwork, and care that went into this project—and it looks like our first bee visitor approves! 💛🌻
