Many people spend years believing they have to justify their feelings, explain their needs, or convince others that what they're experiencing is real.

The truth is, your needs don't have to be understood to be valid.

While understanding from others can feel supportive, your well-being doesn't depend on someone else's agreement. Learning to honor your needs with confidence and self-compassion is an important part of building healthy relationships, including the one you have with yourself.

If this message resonated with you, know that you don't have to navigate that journey alone.

Maybe you never get to the point where you can say, “I'm glad that happened.”

Maybe you never understand why someone made the choices they did.

Maybe you don't forgive.

Maybe you don't find some beautiful lesson that makes it all feel worth it.

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make peace with the past, as though healing eventually requires us to feel okay about what happened.

It doesn't.

Sometimes peace looks less like changing how you feel about the past and more like changing how much power it gets over your future.

You can still wish it had been different.

You can still acknowledge that it wasn't okay.

And you can keep building what comes next.

What does “making peace” mean to you?

We're taught to admire people who don't quit.

Keep going.
Push through.
Don't give up.
Finish what you started.

And perseverance can be an incredible thing.

But we've gotten so good at celebrating the decision to keep going that we don't talk nearly enough about the courage it can take to stop.

Sometimes quitting means recognizing that the job is costing you more than it's giving you.

Sometimes it's accepting that a relationship isn't going to become what you hoped it would.

Sometimes it's letting go of a goal that belonged to an older version of you.

And sometimes it's simply realizing, “I don't want this anymore.”

Changing your mind isn't automatically failure.
Walking away isn't automatically weakness.
And the amount of time you've already invested in something doesn't mean you have to keep investing in it forever.

Sometimes perseverance is healthy.

And sometimes quitting is, too.

What do you think? Have we made “never give up” a little too universal?

📖 From Our Bookshelf

Every week, we're highlighting a book that has inspired growth, meaningful conversations, or a deeper understanding of mental health.

This week's recommendation is The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.

This widely recognized book explores how trauma can influence the brain, body, and nervous system, while also discussing a variety of approaches that may support healing. It has helped many readers better understand the lasting impact of overwhelming experiences and the role that compassionate, trauma-informed care can play in recovery.

As with any mental health resource, every person's experience is unique, and no single book reflects everyone's journey. We hope this recommendation offers another opportunity for learning and reflection.

What book has helped you better understand yourself or your mental health journey? We'd love to hear your recommendations below!

Many of us grow up believing we have to earn our worth through achievement, productivity, or constantly taking care of everyone else.

Over time, that belief can leave us feeling like no accomplishment is ever enough.

The truth is, your worth isn't something you have to prove. It isn't measured by your to-do list, your career, or how much you accomplish in a day.

You deserve compassion and care simply because you're human.

If this message resonated with you, know that you don't have to navigate that journey alone.

Self-esteem isn't always about confidence. Sometimes it's the quiet ways we doubt ourselves every day.

It can show up as dismissing compliments, comparing yourself to others, questioning your abilities, or feeling like you have to earn your worth.

The good news is that these patterns don't have to define you. With awareness, self-compassion, and support, it's possible to build a healthier relationship with yourself.

If these experiences resonated with you, know that you're not alone.

📖 From Our Bookshelf

Every week, we're highlighting a book that has inspired growth, meaningful conversations, or practical strategies for everyday life.

This week's recommendation is 1-2-3 Magic by Thomas W. Phelan, PhD.

This well-known parenting resource introduces a structured approach to discipline that emphasizes calm, consistency, and clear expectations. Rather than relying on repeated warnings or power struggles, it encourages simple routines that can help create a more predictable environment for both parents and children.

Every family is unique, and no single parenting approach fits every child or situation. Books like this can provide helpful ideas while parents discover what works best for their own family.

Have you read 1-2-3 Magic? We'd love to hear what stood out to you!

Becoming a parent is one of life's biggest transitions.

Along with the love, joy, and meaningful moments can also come grief for the parts of life that have changed. Missing who you were before becoming a parent doesn't mean you're ungrateful or that you love your child any less. Both experiences can exist at the same time.

Giving yourself permission to acknowledge those feelings can be an important part of adjusting to this new season.

If this message resonated with you, you're not alone.

Not every life transition feels exciting, even when it's something you've been hoping for.

Major changes often bring mixed emotions. You might feel grateful and overwhelmed. Hopeful and uncertain. Ready for what's next while still missing what was familiar.

Those experiences don't mean you're doing anything wrong. They simply reflect the reality that growth often involves letting go, adjusting, and finding your footing in a new season.

If you're navigating a life transition, know that you don't have to do it alone.
