Most of our holidays ask us to honor things that feel made up. But Día de los Mu***os is real. These were people who walked with us, held us, and loved us into being. Celebrating them is the easiest “yes” I have.
This was my first year celebrating with full intention, and it felt like a complete circle.
When I left LA years ago to recalibrate, my dad supported me completely. He never demanded logic or duty over my happiness.
Right before he passed, he told me, “When you need to come home, you’ll figure it out.”
My issue before leaving was simple: I was pouring into spaces that didn’t know how to pour back. I was giving until I was empty.
After my dad died, I had a vision in meditation. I felt his presence actively creating a long, wide seat for my return to LA. He was preparing a place of total comfort where I could finally rest and be held.
And that seat was a community of Mexican women.
There is a profound, healing power in the company of Mexican women. Our care, our fierce generosity, and our capacity to pour love into a room are unmatched. When you are isolated, that level of giving can drain you. But when you sit in a circle of Mexican women, it transforms. You give, but someone is always right there pouring back into you. It all evens out into pure abundance.
Last night, sitting in a beautiful home, sharing food, honoring our dead, and laughing with my sisters, I realized I was resting in that exact seat my dad prepared for me.
I came back home. I figured it out. And my father is still providing for me from the other side. 🧡🕯️

One for the books. 🕊️
