Understanding your health information is an important part of making informed decisions about your care.

During Health Literacy Month, we're reminded that asking questions, learning about your options, and understanding medical information can help you feel more confident and engaged in your healthcare journey.

Whether you're discussing a diagnosis, reviewing treatment options, or considering participation in a clinical trial, you should always feel comfortable asking questions until you understand the answers.

Knowledge empowers better decisions, and every question is worth asking.

Mental health is just as important as physical health.

Conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders can affect daily life, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

Clinical research plays an important role in advancing new approaches to mental health care, including therapies, medications, and treatment strategies.

Expanding participation in research helps improve understanding of these conditions and supports the development of more effective, accessible care.

Awareness, education, and research all work together to move mental health care forward.

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers worldwide.

Clinical trials have played a major role in advancing screening methods, treatment options, and survival outcomes.

Through research, new therapies continue to be evaluated to improve effectiveness and reduce side effects.

Early detection remains critical. Screening tools like mammograms can help identify cancer before symptoms appear, when it may be easier to treat.

Ongoing participation in research helps continue progress in breast cancer care.

During a clinical trial, your health and safety are the top priority.

An adverse event is any new or worsening health concern that happens while someone is participating in a study. It doesn't necessarily mean the study caused it, but it's important for the research team to know about it.

Participants are encouraged to report any symptoms or concerns, no matter how small they may seem. The research team carefully documents, evaluates, and follows up on these events throughout the study.

Monitoring participant safety is an essential part of every clinical trial and helps researchers better understand potential treatments while protecting those who volunteer.

Questions are always welcome, and your study team is there to support you every step of the way.

Medical breakthroughs don't happen overnight.

They're built through years of collaboration among participants, physicians, research coordinators, nurses, sponsors, and countless healthcare professionals working toward a shared goal.

Every study completed adds to the knowledge that shapes tomorrow's treatments.

Thank you to everyone who helps move research forward, one study, one participant, and one discovery at a time.

**Myth:** Older adults can't participate in clinical trials.

**Fact:** Many clinical trials actively seek older adult participants because treatments need to be evaluated in the people most likely to use them.

Each study has its own eligibility requirements based on the research being conducted, not age alone.

Including older adults in clinical research helps scientists better understand how treatments work across different stages of life and supports the development of healthcare solutions that benefit aging populations.

If you're interested in research, don't assume your age automatically prevents participation. The research team can help determine whether a study may be a good fit.

Every participant's journey through a clinical trial is unique, but most studies follow a similar path.

It often begins with learning about a study and completing a screening visit. If eligible, participants move into the study phase, where they attend scheduled visits, complete study-related activities, and receive ongoing support from the research team.

Throughout the study, participants have opportunities to ask questions, learn more about the research, and stay informed about what to expect.

From the first conversation through the final follow-up visit, research teams are committed to helping participants feel informed, supported, and respected every step of the way.

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day, a time to raise awareness, support those affected by Alzheimer’s disease, and recognize the importance of continued research.

Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. While it most often affects older adults, it is not a normal part of aging.

Clinical research continues to expand our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease, from identifying potential risk factors and early signs to evaluating new approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Every study, every discovery, and every person who chooses to participate in research helps move our understanding forward.

Today, we recognize individuals living with Alzheimer’s, their families and caregivers, and the researchers and clinical trial participants helping advance the future of Alzheimer’s care.

Chronic pain affects millions of people and can have a significant impact on daily life, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Unlike acute pain, which serves as a warning signal, chronic pain can persist for months or longer, even after the original cause has resolved.

Clinical research is helping advance the understanding of different types of pain and how they can be treated more effectively. This includes conditions such as:
βœ”οΈ Diabetic neuropathy, which can cause burning, tingling, or numbness in the hands and feet
βœ”οΈ Degenerative disc disease, a common source of chronic low back pain
βœ”οΈ Post-surgical pain that may persist beyond the expected healing period
βœ”οΈ Neuropathic pain
βœ”οΈ Musculoskeletal pain
βœ”οΈ Inflammatory pain

Studies continue to explore new therapies, management strategies, and approaches tailored to specific pain conditions.

Research plays an important role in improving quality of life for those living with chronic pain.

If you participate in a clinical trial, one of the people you'll likely spend the most time with is your Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC).

Clinical Research Coordinators help guide participants through each step of the study. They schedule visits, explain study procedures, answer questions, coordinate care with the study physician, and help ensure every visit is completed according to the study protocol.

They're often your primary point of contact throughout the clinical trial and are there to help make your experience as comfortable and informed as possible.

Behind every successful clinical trial is a dedicated team committed to supporting participants every step of the way.

World Alzheimer's Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease, reduce stigma, and recognize the importance of ongoing research.

Millions of individuals and families are affected by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, making continued scientific discovery more important than ever.

Clinical research is helping scientists better understand how these diseases develop, identify potential risk factors, improve diagnosis, and evaluate new approaches to treatment.

Every advancement begins with research and the dedication of participants, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers working together toward a future with better options for patients and families.
