IT’S HERE. 🏃‍♀️🔥

Track Night starts tonight.

What began as an idea to bring runners together for structured workouts has turned into a community of people looking to get stronger, learn more, and enjoy the process alongside other athletes.

Whether you’re training for a race, chasing a PR, getting back into running, or simply looking for a consistent place to run each week, we’d love to have you join us.

📍 Cary Academy Track
🕕 6:00–8:00 PM

Tonight we’ll kick things off with:
• A brief introduction and warm-up
• A mile time trial to establish pacing groups
• A coached workout
• Plenty of opportunities to meet other runners

And throughout the summer we’ll be covering topics like:
✅ Running nutrition
✅ Injury prevention
✅ Shoe selection
✅ Strength training for runners
✅ Recovery strategies
✅ Free injury screens

All paces welcome. All levels welcome.

Let’s kick off summer together.

See you on the track!

Do your hamstrings always feel tight?

You stretch them.
Foam roll them.
Maybe even massage them.

And yet… they never seem to loosen up.

Here’s something most people don’t realize:

Sometimes the sensation of “tight hamstrings” isn’t actually coming from the hamstring muscle at all.

It could be coming from the sciatic nerve.

When nerves become sensitive or don’t move well through surrounding tissues, they can create sensations that feel remarkably similar to muscle tightness.

That’s why stretching harder isn’t always the answer.

In some cases, it can actually make symptoms worse.

The key is figuring out what’s REALLY driving the sensation.

Is it:
✔️ Muscle tightness?
✔️ Weakness?
✔️ Load intolerance?
✔️ Sciatic nerve tension?

Because the solution depends on the cause.

If you’ve been chasing the same “tight hamstrings” for months (or years), it may be time to stop treating the symptom and start identifying the source.

Have you ever had hamstring tightness that never seemed to go away?

🔥 Summer running feels harder for a reason.

If your pace has slowed, your heart rate is higher, or every run feels like a grind, it doesn’t mean you’re losing fitness.

It may mean your body is adapting.

Heat adaptation is one of the most powerful training tools available to endurance athletes. With consistent exposure, your body learns to cool itself more efficiently, expand plasma volume, reduce perceived effort, and perform better in hot conditions.

The key? Don’t fight the process.

✅ Slow down when needed
✅ Focus on effort, not pace
✅ Stay hydrated
✅ Prioritize recovery
✅ Be consistent

The athletes who train smart through the summer are often the ones setting PRs in the fall.

Have you noticed summer training getting easier yet, or are you still in the “why does every run feel terrible?” phase? 👇

If you’re struggling with injuries, training load, or preparing for a fall race, we’d love to help.

As Metric May comes to a close, here’s the biggest takeaway:

Metrics are tools. Not identities.

This month we talked about HRV, body fat percentage, and sleep scores. While these numbers can provide useful information, they never tell the whole story.

Your watch can’t measure your resilience.
A body fat percentage can’t measure your worth.
A sleep score can’t determine what you’re capable of today.

The people who make long-term progress aren’t usually the ones chasing perfect numbers.

They’re the ones who:
✔ Show up consistently
✔ Stay patient
✔ Adapt when life happens
✔ Keep moving forward

And speaking of showing up…

Track Club starts June 4th! 👟

If you’re looking for a fun way to build fitness, improve your running, learn more about training, and connect with other runners this summer, we’d love to have you join us.

Because at the end of the day, the goal isn’t perfect metrics.

It’s building a strong, healthy, capable body that lets you do more of what you love.

Sleep scores can be helpful.

But they’re still just estimates.

Your watch does not fully understand:
• your stress
• your motivation
• your resilience
• or how your body actually feels

Use the data as a tool.
Not a definition of your health or performance.

For a long time, I viewed strength training through the lens of aesthetics and performance.

Getting faster.
Getting stronger.
Looking fit.

And while I still love pushing myself athletically, becoming a mom shifted my perspective completely.

Now, strength means something different to me.

It means being able to keep doing the things I love.
Running trails.
Lifting heavy.
Picking up my daughter.
Feeling capable in my body.

Running gives me freedom.

But strength training is what keeps me resilient enough to keep chasing that freedom for the long term.

And honestly?
I think more women deserve to feel that powerful.

Strength training isn’t just about performance anymore.
It’s about longevity, confidence, resilience, and showing yourself what your body is capable of.

That’s why I lift.
If you need help starting a lifting program, a great way to start is finding a local gym who will help you focus on correct form and volume. The strength trainers at .fitness_ are great at this.
If you’re looking for more of a group workout, gyms like and are great places to start.
I can also help you come up with a strength program that’s right for YOUR body. This is my speciality! Reach out and we can get you started right away :)

Shoulder pain when lifting overhead? Sometimes it’s a STABILITY issue, not a mobility issue. Try these exercises to improve stability of the shoulder joint in the overhead position and watch as your pain with overhead lifts decreases!
