There’s a weird transition that happens when college sports are over.

You go from having a team, a schedule, practices, workouts, competition, and people who understand what you’re talking about without needing the backstory…

Then suddenly, you’re done.

You graduate. You start working. Life gets busy.

And you might realize you don’t just miss competing. You miss being part of a team.

That’s one of the reasons the Next Rep Social Club exists.

It’s a social club and professional network for former college athletes who want to stay active, meet people who understand the athlete experience, build friendships, compete, and continue growing beyond sport.

Your college playing days may be over. Your team doesn't have to be.

A good coach pays attention to more than what happens during competition.

You start to know your athletes. You know how they normally show up, how they respond to pressure, and when something feels a little different.

That matters because sometimes the change you notice has nothing to do with sports.

Maybe they’re dealing with something at home. Maybe they’re struggling with an injury. Maybe they’re overwhelmed and don’t know how to say it.

You don’t have to know exactly what to do with all of that. You don’t have to become their therapist.

But you can ask the question. You can listen without immediately trying to fix it. And if they need more support, you can help connect them to someone who can provide it.

That’s part of coaching too.

Happy National Coaches Day to the coaches who see the athlete AND the person. 💚

IT’S COMING BACK! 💚

The Athlete: Mental Health Summit is returning to Toledo on March 1, 2027, and I’m already excited about what’s ahead.

This past summit brought together athletes, coaches, families, mental health professionals, and an incredible group of people who believe that mental health belongs in the conversation about athletic performance.

And we’re doing it again. 🙌🏾

Save the date. Tell your coaches. Tell your athletes. Tell your schools. Tell somebody who needs to be in this room.
