When Chappy isn’t busy offering snuggles, snorts, and smiles, he’s usually hard at work on an important task… chewing on a bone. 🦴🐾
Life as a therapy dog-in-training is all about balance: comforting others, spreading joy, and making sure there’s plenty of time for a good chew session. After all, even the best pups need a way to unwind.

Feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent the Fairfield County Trauma Response Team at the NASW Conference alongside Nick deSpoelberch.

“Understanding and Providing Effective Mental Health Strategies with our First Responders “
Excited to share that Nick and I will be presenting together at the NASW Conference on May 21 in Bristol, representing Fairfield County Trauma Response Team.

Looking forward to connecting, learning, and sharing the important work we’re doing to support trauma-informed care in our communities.

When your system feels overwhelmed, your breath can become an anchor.

Square breathing helps stabilize the nervous system, creating a sense of safety in the body—an essential foundation for trauma work like EMDR.

You don’t have to force calm.
Just follow the rhythm.

Inhale. Hold. Exhale. Hold.

Let your body remember what steady feels like.

Breathwork, Nervous System Regulation, & EMDR 🤍

Healing from trauma isn’t about “just talking about it”—it’s about helping the body feel safe again.

✨ Breathwork
Intentional breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping lower cortisol, reduce anxiety, and bring the body out of survival mode.

✨ Nervous System Regulation
When we build regulation skills, we increase our capacity to tolerate stress, reduce hyperarousal, and create a sense of internal safety and balance.

✨ EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they are no longer stored as “current threats.” Research shows it can significantly reduce symptoms of PTSD and emotional distress.

These approaches don’t just help you cope—
They help your nervous system heal.

💬 If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or on edge… your body might be asking for support, not more pushing.
