There’s something extra special about the bond between grandparents and grandchildren. On Grandparents Day, enjoy a heartwarming conversation between Eric, independent living director at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, and his grandmother, Sylvia, who calls the campus home.

The story began at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber, but bringing it fully to life took a creative home.

For one unforgettable week, Oranjudioio became the home of Stories to Song. Residents, songwriters, musicians, engineers and filmmakers moved through the studio as 11 deeply personal songs took shape, one performance and one honest moment at a time.

We are incredibly grateful to Oranjudio for helping create a space worthy of these stories. Hear what was made there on October 16: https://hubs.ly/Q04xjM_90

We also thank Law Group, a Melody Sponsor, for supporting the creative partnerships that carried these stories from conversation into music.

Nancy, a patient with Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice of Greater Akron, had a wish come true through Make It Happen made possible by Balloons Over Wadsworth. She enjoyed fair food, live music and plenty of laughs before taking a tethered hot air balloon ride with her daughter, Barbie. Thank you to Shannon, Jennifer, Megan, Inspired Aviation and Balloons Over Wadsworth for helping create such a meaningful memory for Nancy and her family.

Before there were melodies, microphones or finished lyrics, there was listening.

At the Stories to Song workshop, residents and songwriters met one another, asked questions and began searching for the stories that deserved to become songs. Some ideas arrived through laughter. Others came through reflection, old photographs, memories of family, careers, travel, faith and friendship.

Follow the journey from first conversation to finished album, and join us for the October 16 release:

Caring for our communities means more than providing exceptional care; it means investing in the people who make those communities stronger. That’s why we create opportunities for local professionals and caregivers to connect and grow. Our annual Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice workshop in Northeast Ohio is one example of how we share expertise and resources to help strengthen the broader care community.

A summer concert at Ohio Living Dorothy Love brought residents and the community together for an evening of music, connection and good company. Kaitlyn Schmidt & Friends set the tone, while hot dogs and margaritas added to the fun.
