Afton Therapy's New Home!

Seven years ago, Afton Therapy began in a rented office space with a vision to help people heal. Today, that vision has a permanent home.

This cozy corner in the office is more than just furniture and décor—it is a visual representation of everything I believe about healing. The brain represents our thoughts and patterns. The heart represents our emotions, relationships, and experiences. The cellular connection represents the deeper physiological processes that influence how we feel, think, and function every day. When these systems work together, healing becomes possible.

Every detail of this space was intentionally chosen to create a feeling of safety, comfort, and connection. As a neuropsychotherapist, I understand that environment matters. The textures, colors, lighting, and design all play a role in helping people settle in, feel secure, and engage in the deep conversations that lead to growth and transformation.

There are still a few finishing touches to complete—wallpaper, pictures, diplomas, certifications, and personal details to hang—but the door is officially open.

After renting office space since 2019, it is difficult to put into words what it feels like to walk into a place that is completely my own. A space thoughtfully designed to reflect the integration of the mind, emotions, and body. A space where healing stories will be shared, breakthroughs will happen, and hope will be restored.

Afton Therapy is now accepting new clients for psychotherapy, ADHD assessments, brain mapping (qEEG), and neurofeedback.

And I couldn't be more grateful for what comes next.

I think one of the most fascinating parts of my work is uncovering why a person feels the way they do.

Why does someone wake up exhausted despite sleeping all night?
Why does anxiety live in the body even when life appears “fine”?
Why does the nervous system remain trapped in survival mode long after the danger has passed?

I am endlessly captivated by the brain.
Watching live brainwaves.
Studying patterns of dysregulation.
Analyzing areas of excessive and deficient activity that reveal a nervous system struggling to find balance.

Take this brain map, for example.

This is not simply “stress.”
This is a nervous system that does not feel safe within the body.
This is chronic fight-or-flight.
This is hypervigilance.
This is a brain and body operating as though they are under constant threat.

And often, this is what we see when chronic infection and inflammation begin impacting the neurological system.

What fascinates me most is that the brain tells a story long before words ever do.

People minimize symptoms.
People normalize suffering.
People learn to function in survival mode.

But the brainwave data reveals the truth.

The excessive high beta activity… the imbalance in slower frequencies… the instability in regulation patterns… these are not random findings. They are reflections of a nervous system that has been overwhelmed for far too long.

This is exactly why I am so passionate about my PhD clinical study.

I cannot wait to walk alongside these participants over the next 120 days as we work from the inside out at the cellular level while simultaneously working top-down through nervous system and brain regulation.

Because healing is not just physical.
It is neurological.
It is emotional.
It is physiological.
It is energetic.

And when the brain and body finally begin to feel safe again… everything changes.

I know the power of neurofeedback. I see the data. I watch the brain shift, regulate, and find its rhythm again.

And yet… I still find myself in awe.

When I check in with clients who are actively training their brains, I’m always hopeful—but when I hear their lived experience, it hits differently.

A recent example that truly moved me…

A sweet 12-year-old boy who has struggled with attention, impulsivity, distractibility, anxiety, and emotional regulation.

As his clinician, I’ve watched his brain patterns improve. I’ve seen the shifts.

But hearing it from him—and from his mom—was something else entirely.

His mom shared that she’s noticing a more mature version of her son emerging.

-He’s starting his homework without being asked
-He’s completing tasks that don’t come naturally or feel rewarding
-He’s initiating—on his own
-He’s sleeping through the night
And maybe most powerful of all…
-He recognizes when he feels overwhelmed and is able to let things go instead of getting stuck in rumination or conflict

Even during our session, his presence felt different. Calmer. More grounded. More regulated.

It honestly felt like I was talking to someone years older than 12.

This is what happens when the brain begins to function in alignment.

This is what happens when we stop fighting the brain… and start training it.

The brain has an incredible capacity to regulate not just thoughts—but emotions, behaviors, and even the way we experience the world.

I cannot wait to hear what his teachers begin to notice in the classroom.

Moments like this remind me why I do what I do.

Afton Therapy officially opened its private practice space in Woodbury, MN.

What started as a vision and renting space has now become a permanent place where healing can truly happen—mentally, emotionally, and physically.

I intentionally offer Tuesday and Thursday evening appointments so that students, professionals, and families don’t have to choose between their responsibilities and their well-being.

At Afton Therapy, I provide:

• Neurofeedback for brain optimization

This space was created to help you understand your mind, regulate your body, and reconnect with yourself in a deeper way.

Brain maps don’t lie. And this is just the beginning.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to sit down with the first participant in my PhD clinical study focused on Lyme disease, immune optimization, and bringing the body back into true coherence.

38 years old.
And his brain told a story his words didn’t have to.

His qEEG/brain map revealed significant dysregulation—patterns we consistently see with chronic physiological stress, infection, and neuroinflammation.
A brain stuck in overdrive… unable to shift into a calm, restorative state.

This is what so many people are feeling but cannot explain.

• Wired but exhausted
• Poor sleep
• Cognitive fog
• A nervous system that never fully turns off

And here’s the truth:
This is not “in your head.” It’s in your brain. And we can measure it.

What excites me most is not just what we found…
but what’s coming next.

Over the next 120 days, we will be guiding his system through intentional mindset training—teaching the brain and body how to feel safe again—paired with targeted cellular support to optimize immune function from the inside out.

This is where neuroscience meets healing.
Where thoughts, biology, and the immune system begin to work together instead of against each other.

I cannot wait to scan the remaining participants…
and even more, I cannot wait to watch these brains change.

Because when the brain learns safety…
the body follows.

And that’s when healing begins.

And most people don’t realize…
this isn’t just stress.

It’s a neurological and physiological state your body gets stuck in.

Over time, this becomes a cycle.

And the hardest part?
From the outside, you still look like you’re “handling it.”

But here’s the truth I want more people to understand:

Your brain isn’t broken.
It’s trying to protect you.

It just hasn’t been given the chance to reset.

What if the very thoughts running through your mind right now are shaping the state of your body?

We often separate “mental” and “physical” health… but they are deeply intertwined.

When your mind perceives stress, fear, or uncertainty, your body responds as if there is a real threat. Your brain signals the release of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Your heart rate increases. Your breathing shifts. And over time, when this state becomes chronic, it can suppress immune function, increase inflammation, disrupt sleep, and leave your body more vulnerable to illness.

Anxious thoughts don’t just stay in your head…
they echo through every system in your body.

But here’s the powerful flip side:

If thoughts can contribute to illness… can they also contribute to healing?

I believe they can.

Because just as the brain can signal stress, it can also signal safety.

When you begin to intentionally shift your thoughts—toward belief, toward hope, toward healing—you are no longer living in a constant fight-or-flight state. You begin activating rest, repair, and restoration. Your nervous system softens. Your immune system strengthens. Your body begins to respond differently.

I lived this.

There was a point in my journey where I made a decision—not a quiet one, but a bold, unwavering one.

I believed 1,000,000% that acemannan was the missing piece to my mystery.

I didn’t just think it…
I spoke it.
I wrote it.
I embodied it.

And over time, my body followed.

This is exactly why I created my guided mind-body experience, “A Body That Feels Safe.” Because healing isn’t just about what we take… it’s about what we think, what we believe, and what we repeatedly tell our cells.
