🌿 Exploring Nature, Learning Together & Making Memories 🌿

There's nothing quite like spending time outdoors, and recently Maddison enjoyed a wonderful day exploring the beautiful walking trails at Chinaman's Hollow with support worker Loz.

After looking through a number of local bushwalk options together, Maddison chose Chinaman's Hollow as the perfect place to visit. Surrounded by nature, she spent the day taking in the peaceful scenery, enjoying the fresh air, and embracing everything the local environment had to offer.

One of the highlights of the walk was hearing Maddison share her knowledge of native plants. She enthusiastically pointed out different species along the trail and explained what she calls "bush beans," teaching Loz about the local flora. It was fantastic to see her confidence, passion, and knowledge shine while enjoying meaningful conversations throughout the outing.

The adventure ended with a very special surprise when Maddison met a friendly cockatoo. Excited by the encounter, she asked for a photo with her new feathered friend, creating a memorable moment to finish off an already wonderful day.

At Activated Concepts, we love supporting people to pursue their interests, explore their local community, and build meaningful experiences that promote confidence, independence, and wellbeing. Every outing is an opportunity to create lasting memories, learn something new, and celebrate the unique strengths and passions of the people we support.

What a fantastic day, Maddison and Loz - we can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you! πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ§‘

This week we're recognising NAIDOC Week (5 to 12 July), and the 2026 theme is 50 Years of Deadly.

Fifty years is a milestone worth pausing on. NAIDOC began as a movement for recognition and rights, and half a century on it remains a celebration of the culture, achievements and enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In many First Nations communities, 'deadly' means excellent, and this year honours the Elders, organisers, artists and communities who built and carried the movement forward, generation after generation, refusing to be silenced.

That history matters to the work we do. At Activated Concepts, everything comes back to walking alongside people. Across our mental health, allied health, disability, aged care, behaviour support and family services, the people we support deserve care that is culturally safe, respectful, and shaped by their own voices, choices and communities. For First Nations people, that means recognising the ongoing impacts of the past, listening to community leadership, and understanding that self-determination is not a slogan. It is how good support actually works.

NAIDOC Week is a moment to celebrate, but it is also a reminder of the responsibility we carry the rest of the year. To keep learning. To keep listening. To keep showing up, and to make sure the people who trust us with their care feel genuinely seen, heard and respected.

To every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person in our community, our team and the lives we're privileged to be part of: this week, and always, we celebrate you.

We acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. Always was, always will be.

Happy NAIDOC Week. πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

At Activated Concepts, we know that meaningful support is built on trust, understanding, and authentic relationships.

As we continue to grow, we are pleased to have capacity available to welcome new participants and create supports that are shaped around each person’s lifestyle, goals, and aspirations.

Our approach has always been about seeing the person first, understanding what matters to them, what they enjoy, what they want to achieve, and how we can support them to live life on their own terms.

We offer support through accommodation, in-home and community access, complex medical care needs, psychosocial support and skill development to individuals of all ages, including those under 18yrs old.

A key part of delivering exceptional support is having the right people alongside our participants.

We take great care in welcoming team members who are compassionate, reliable, and passionate about making a positive impact.

We look beyond experience alone, we value attitude, connection, and the ability to build genuine partnerships.

We take pride in carefully matching Support Workers with participants to encourage strong relationships, consistency, and a support environment where people feel comfortable, respected, and empowered.

At the same time, we remain dedicated to investing in our team through ongoing learning, training, and professional development opportunities. We believe that when our staff grow, the people we support benefit too.

At Activated Concepts, we’re not here to simply provide a service, we’re here to create meaningful connections, support personal growth, and make a lasting difference.

If you’re looking for a provider that takes the time to understand you, or you’re a Support Worker wanting to join a team that values people and purpose, we’d love to connect. πŸ§‘πŸ’šπŸ’™

July is Disability Pride Month

This year's theme: "The world works better with us."

At Activated Concepts, we're proud to celebrate Disability Pride Month - a time to recognise, celebrate and honour the diversity, strength and achievements of people with disability, while promoting inclusion and awareness.

The Disability Pride Flag:
🟒 Green - sensory disabilities
πŸ”΅ Blue - psychiatric and mental health disabilities
βšͺ White - invisible and undiagnosed disabilities
🟑 Gold - neurodivergence
πŸ”΄ Red - physical disabilities

The diagonal band represents breaking through the barriers disabled people continue to face. The charcoal background honours those whose lives have been lost to ableism, violence, neglect, and systemic injustice.

How to show up as an ally:
✨ Listen to disabled people and trust their lived experience.
✨ Speak up against ableism, bullying, and discrimination when you see it.
✨ Challenge assumptions about what disabled people can or can't do.
✨ Follow disabled voices and keep learning.
✨ Push for access - physical, digital, and social - as a standard, not an afterthought.

The world works better when people with disabilities are included in building it - not as an exception, but as a given. That's true every month, not just this one.

If you or someone you know needs support: ReachOut, and the National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline (1800 880 052).
