As we celebrate the 10th birthday of our emergency department here at Peninsula Private Hospital, meet Kristen and Sanna, who have been there since the very beginning!

Sanna began her career with us as a critical care nurse before working her way up to unit manager.

"We have a very strong team of nurses and doctors in our department," she says, "and it’s our teamwork that gets us through the busy days."

"Those moments really help lighten the shift and remind us why we enjoy working together."

For the first time here at Peninsula Private Hospital, a robotic lung lobectomy has been performed using the da Vinci Surgical System.

Associate Professor Chris Merry performed the minimally-invasive surgery to treat a patient with primary lung cancer.

"It allows us to perform complex lung resections via keyhole surgery,' he said. "This has obvious benefits for the patient in terms of postoperative pain, length of stay, and blood product use."

As the only hospital on the Mornington Peninsula with a da Vinci robot, we are proud to be leading the way with this innovative technology.

We're thrilled that Ramsay Health Care has been named Principal Partner of one of the region's largest and most influential sporting organisations - the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League - through to the end of the 2027 season 🏉

The partnership will create new opportunities for collaboration between Ramsay clinicians and local clubs, supporting education and health initiatives that encourage injury prevention, wellbeing and early access to appropriate care.

"Healthy communities aren't built in hospitals alone," said Ramsay Health Care Bayside Manager Austin Wills. "They're built on sporting fields, in clubrooms and through the volunteers, players and families who bring local clubs to life every week."

To celebrate , we’re recognising the work of the incredible team behind our Clinical Trials Unit.

Established in 2017, the unit has a proud record in participating in meaningful trials that support Australians in achieving better health outcomes. There are a number of continuing and new studies, supporting patients across orthopaedics, haematology, oncology, cardiology and more.

A recent highlight includes the M22 003 study in upfront follicular lymphoma, where Peninsula Private was recognised as one of the highest recruiting sites in Australia. While results are yet to be published, early indications and emerging data are promising.

None of this would be possible without our Clinical Trials Unit team, who have dedicated their careers to bringing hope and brighter outcomes to the patients who need it most.

The cardiac rehab team here at Peninsula Private Hospital rounded out with the annual Healthy Heart Checks at the Village Baxter on Saturday.

This year marks 15 years since the team began taking part in this wonderful initiative, which aims to start conversations about heart health that could change lives.

Nurses volunteered their time along with the cardiac rehab volunteer team to provide free blood pressure checks and advice to the bowling teams taking part in the tournament, as well as the wider community.

Over 70 people joined the team for tea, coffee and cake and shared their experiences at Peninsula Private Hospital. Thank you to the wonderful cardiac team for engaging with the local community on this very important topic.

There is life after a cardiac event. That’s the message the Cardiac Rehab Cycling Team from Peninsula Private Hospital is spreading as they cycle hundreds of kilometres to raise awareness about heart health.

They kicked off their 2026 campaign by completing the Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride in Torquay. All 10 members, consisting of cardiac patients and medical professionals, successfully finished the ride and received lots of questions from other riders along the way.

Well done to the team on your achievement and your ongoing commitment to this wonderful cause!

This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating a very special mother-daughter duo here at Peninsula Private Hospital 💙

Meet Ursula and Clara – two dedicated nurses who share not only a passion for caring for others, but also a love for working together as part of the Peninsula team.

Ursula has worked at Peninsula Private Hospital for nine years and loves the variety her role brings, along with the wonderful people she works with every day. She became a nurse because she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.

Clara has been part of the team for four years and says her favourite part of nursing is being there for people in such an impactful way. Clara chose nursing as she was inspired by her mum.

Thank you to Ursula and Clara for the compassion, care and dedication you bring to our patients and teams every day. Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸
