🥳🎉🏆

We’re incredibly proud to share that our Practice has been shortlisted for two categories in the General Practice Awards 2026:

Leadership in Practice and Practice Team of the Year.

Being named finalists is a tremendous honour and reflects the outstanding dedication of our Reception Team, whose professionalism and commitment to patient care are at the heart of our service. Their work has been recognised among practices across Derbyshire and beyond, and we are delighted to see their efforts celebrated.

Although the nominations focus on Gemma and the Reception Team, this achievement represents the collective strength of our entire practice team. We are proud of the supportive, collaborative environment that enables us to provide high‑quality care to our patients.

We extend our sincere thanks to our community for your continued trust and support. We look forward to sharing the results later this year.

Well done to our amazing team! ❤️🎊🎉

It’s that time of the month again, which means it’s statistics time again.
Our reception team are still working incredibly hard, calling patients the day before routine appointments to help reduce DNAs.

If you can’t make your appointment at St Marks Road, Spondon, or the Urgent Treatment Centre, please ring us—voicemail is available too. 📞📆

Sadly, July saw a small rise in missed appointments, adding up to 37 hours and 15 minutes lost across the practice. That’s time we could have offered to other patients waiting to be seen.

Thank you to everyone who continues to cancel in advance. It really does make a difference.

First of the month means statistics time!
📞The reception team are still going to great lengths to contact you before any routine appointment the day before to help prevent appointments being not attended.
Please remember, if you can longer make any appointment, whether it is St Marks Road, Spondon or the urgent treatment center please give us a call so we can help you cancel this. We even have the option to leave a voicemail to cancel any appointments 📆

📣 REMINDER: From tomorrow (1 July 2026), the only way to contact the Derbyshire Mental Health Helpline will be by calling 111 and then selecting the ‘mental health’ option (option 2). The helpline’s 0800 number will be switched off on this date.

This transition means that people who need immediate support with their mental health will not need to remember a long 0800 number, and will be able to get the help they need quickly and efficiently.

🚨 HEAT ALERT: Important advice for patients taking antidepressants 🚨
With the current hot weather, we’d like to remind patients taking medications such as sertraline, citalopram, fluoxetine, duloxetine, mirtazapine (and other SSRIs/SNRIs) that these can make you more prone to overheating and dehydration.
✅ Stay safe in the heat by:
Drinking plenty of fluids
Keeping out of direct sun where possible
Wearing sunscreen and light clothing
Taking regular breaks in the shade
⚠️ If you feel unwell (e.g. dizziness, headache, confusion, or excessive sweating), please seek medical advice.
If you have any concerns about your medication during the heat, please contact the surgery or speak to a pharmacist.
Stay safe and take care 💛
