Dronfield Medical Practice Dronfield Medical Practice is a well established family doctor practice. The practice is involved in the training of junior doctors and medical students.

We are centrally located within Dronfield and have a pharmacy conveniently located next door. We were the first practice in North Derbyshire to receive the Quality Practice Award. We are also gold award winners in the Pride in Practice programme. We have three male and five female GP's. We also have a Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, Nurse Associate and Health Care Assistants.

Welcome back to Dr Blanshard who has returned to us as a permanent salaried GP.
Dr Blanshard may be known to patients as she was one of our GP registrars in 2021-24, and has worked occasionally for us as a locum since qualifying in 2024. We are over-the-moon to have her back with us in a permanent position. 😁

We know he’ll be hugely missed by staff and patients alike, and we send our love and gratitude for his commitment, compassion and care in the 5 years he’s been with us.

🦠Spring COVID-19 Booster Campaign 🦠

Over the next few days we will be inviting eligible patients to book their Spring COVID-19 booster vaccination.

This booster helps protect those most at risk from serious illness, especially as immunity can decrease over time.

Who can get the spring booster?
✔️ Adults aged 75 and over
✔️ Residents in care homes for older adults
✔️ Individuals aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system

How to book
We will send all eligible patients (with a mobile number) a booking link to our clinics. Patients can also come into reception or telephone 01246 412242 to book.

The main clinics will be on Saturday 18th April and Wednesday 13th May, but there are a small number of appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays too.

We wanted to share a small update that may be helpful for some of our patients. The hearing aid battery service previously provided by DCHS on the first floor of the building is unfortunately no longer available.

While this service is separate from Dronfield Medical Practice (GP) and is commissioned independently to Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS), we know that a number of our patients have used it. For this reason, we felt it was important to pass this information on.

We’ve been advised by DCHS that patients should now contact their original hearing aid provider directly for ongoing support, including replacement batteries.

We understand this change may be disappointing, and we hope this notice helps avoid any unnecessary trips. Thank you, as always, for your understanding.

📣We are currently receiving a high volume of enquiries about the Meningitis B vaccine. We do understand that this evolving situation is concerning for some but sadly our NHS contract limits what we can do. We received over 100 calls this week on top of the usual calls to practice and the reception team dealt with grumbles regarding phone waiting times. This post is for information purposes, to try and explain what options patients have.

We apologise if this post has landed badly - it has been a very busy week. We do these posts on top of the ‘day job’ and don’t have a communication or media degree between us. We try our best. 😞

Please note:
❌ The MenB vaccine is not available on the NHS for teenagers and is not provided by GP practices or School Immunisation Teams.

👶 It is only routinely offered on the NHS to babies under 2 years of age. If your baby has not had the MenB vaccine and you wish them to have it, please contact the practice and we can organise this for you.

💉 If you would like the MenB vaccine for a teenager or anyone over the age of 2, this will need to be arranged privately through providers such as high street pharmacies or private clinics.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer this vaccine at our surgery to anyone outside of the NHS vaccination schedule.

If you do not know whether or not you’ve had the vaccine, please first look on your NHS app, and only ring the practice if you are unable to find the information any other way. Excessive calls regarding this delays patients who need care from getting through quickly.

💉We can give the Men ACWY vaccine to anyone between the ages of 13 and 25 who have *not* had this previously at school. Please contact us for an appointment.
