This one really stopped me.

Because I think there’s a particular kind of anger that can arrive when you’ve spent a lot of your life being “the mature one”.

Maybe you were the child who didn’t cause much trouble. Who could sense when it wasn’t a good time to need something. Who was praised for being sensible, independent, easy, good.

And perhaps you WERE mature. But perhaps you were also just very good at ADAPTING.

You learned to read the room. To keep quiet about certain things. Somewhere along the way, dealing with stuff on your own started to feel safer than asking someone else to help.

Which works surprisingly well for quite a long time.

Until one day you’re an adult and you’re absolutely furious that nobody has noticed you need help loading the dishwasher.

Obviously it’s not really about the dishwasher.

There can be A LOT of anger underneath being the capable one. Anger about how much you’ve swallowed. About how you needed someone else to be the grown-up so you didn’t have to be. About the fact that nobody came along and said, “you know you don’t actually have to cope with everything, right?”

Maybe you didn’t suddenly become an angry adult.

Maybe you’re finally feeling some of what the “mature” child had to keep quiet.

And maybe the work isn’t to become less angry.

Maybe it’s to get curious about what your anger has been trying to say.

Validation is important. Reassurance can be lovely. But there’s also something powerful about reaching a place where you can think, *This is how I feel. And I trust that* 🤍

Instead of shaming ourselves for feeling anxious, maybe we can view anxiety as a clue that something is out of balance.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anxiety often has an important message for us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we stop listening, it screams a little louder to get our attention.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try bringing some patience, compassion and curiosity to the part of you that is anxious and treat it like you would a good friend who is looking out for you, rather than seeing it as the enemy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The way we respond to anxiety can make or break how it impacts our lives. 💕

When I sit with mothers in my work, I’m struck again and again by their strength.

Yes, motherhood is demanding. It pulls us out of ourselves, stretches us in ways we never anticipated, and often asks for more sacrifice than feels fair. Identity can blur. Rest can feel out of reach.

And yet - what moves me most is how often I see women using this season not only to care for their children, but to heal parts of themselves.

Motherhood, for all its challenges, can also be an extraordinary catalyst for healing and empowerment. And I am constantly in awe of the mothers who are doing this hard, tender, transformative work - for their children, yes, but also for themselves. ❤️❤️❤️
