A man has been arrested after police seized an estimated £4 million in cash and a kilo of co***ne following a proactive policing operation in Catford.
Officers on patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area at around 6.30pm last night (July 29).
A search of the car led to the discovery of a shopping bag containing around £35,000 in cash.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing criminal property and remains in police custody.
A further search of a property linked to the man uncovered approximately £4 million in cash hidden in bags across two bedrooms, along with 1kg of co***ne.
Commander Paul Brogden, from the Met’s Specialist Crime unit, said: “This is one of the largest cash seizures we’ve seen and shows the impact that proactive local policing can have in tackling serious and organised crime.
