Patient Expectations .......We would like to remind patients that appointments and investigations are prioritised according to clinical need and NHS guidance.

There can sometimes be a misconception that routine matters should be dealt with immediately. However, if a clinician advises that something is routine, it means that it is clinically appropriate to be managed within a routine timeframe. Routine appointments will not be moved into urgent appointment slots simply because a patient would prefer to be seen sooner. We are not Amazon!

Urgent appointments are reserved for patients with urgent medical needs. When routine issues are booked into urgent slots, it can reduce access for those who genuinely require same-day assessment.

We ask all patients to help us use our limited resources fairly by understanding that appointment timescales are based on clinical priority, not convenience.

On a related note, we have unfortunately seen several urgent appointments wasted this week through non-attendance. One patient did not attend urgent appointments booked on three consecutive days. Missed appointments mean that other patients who needed care were unable to use those slots. They will have received their final warning this morning!

If you are unable to attend an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible (at least 2 hours) so that it can be offered to another patient.

💉 WEIGHT LOSS INJECTIONS 💉

We know there has been a lot of interest in new weight loss injection treatments recently. These medications are being introduced gradually across the NHS in our area over the coming year for specific groups of patients who meet national eligibility criteria.

Our nursing team will be reviewing eligible patients and contacting those who may qualify directly. At this stage, please do not book a GP appointment specifically to discuss weight loss injections, as appointments are needed for patients with urgent medical concerns. If you are eligible, we will contact you.
