As promised, here is a lovely video from our “Nephin in Bloom” activity for Nursing Homes Week 2026.

Fintan, William and Frances thoroughly enjoyed planting and repotting a beautiful selection of flowering plants, aromatic herbs and ornamental plants. 🌸🌱

A relaxing and rewarding activity that brought this year’s theme, “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom,” beautifully to life at Nephin Nursing Home. 💚

🌿 Nephin in Bloom – Nursing Homes Week 2026 🌿

We are delighted to begin our Nursing Homes Week celebrations at Nephin Nursing Home

Nursing Homes Week 2026 takes place from 17th–23rd August. This special initiative of Nursing Homes Ireland is being celebrated under the theme, “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom.”

Today’s activity was aptly named “Nephin in Bloom.” 🌸

Our residents enjoyed a lovely morning of gardening, preparing the soil, transplanting plants and planting cuttings and beautifully scented herbs. We used a variety of containers, including flower boxes, plastic pots and recycled pots – giving them a wonderful new purpose. 🌱♻️

It was a relaxing and rewarding activity, giving everyone an opportunity to connect with nature, enjoy the different scents and textures, and watch our garden begin to bloom.

We have lots of lovely photographs to share today, with a video of our residents’ gardening activities to follow tomorrow 💚

📚 Bringing the Library to Nephin Nursing Home

We were delighted to welcome back Shane, the Librarian from Cabra Library to Nephin Nursing Home to meet with our Residents.

Shane introduced our Residents to the wonderful range of reading materials and devices available through the library, and explained how he can bring resources to the Nursing Home for everyone to enjoy. 📖📱

He also gave us a fascinating presentation showcasing libraries across Dublin and the many opportunities available to explore them in the future 📚

A big thank you to Shane for taking the time to visit us again and for opening up a whole new world of books, learning and discovery for our Residents 📚

It was all Hands on Deck at Nephin Nursing Home last week to prepare for our Summer BBQ Party on 5th August ☀️

Our wonderful residents rolled up their sleeves to help Activities Coordinators create beautiful handmade flowers that brightened up our BBQ celebrations 💙

There was plenty of creativity, teamwork and chat as everyone worked together to make the decorations extra special.
A huge thank you to everyone who got involved – your beautiful creations made our Summer BBQ even more colourful and memorable 🌼💛

☀️ Summer BBQ Fun at Nephin Nursing Home 🎶☀️

Yesterday, August 5th, we enjoyed a wonderful Summer BBQ Party filled with food, music, laughter and special memories. 💙

We were delighted to welcome our residents’ families and guests who joined us for a fantastic day of summer fun. Despite a mix of sunshine, rain and a little breeze, we enjoyed our very own “outside inside” BBQ celebration 🍔

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special — to the families and loved ones of our Residents who joined us: our Activities Team Nancy, Danilo and Mariya, our CEO Rioghnach Murphy, Regional Operations Manager Simi, Executive Chef Jose, Chefs Eldho and Nidhin, and our kitchen team. 👏

Special thanks also to Laura at Reception, Anitha (Director of Nursing), Anca (Assistant Director of Nursing), Pavel, Simon and Patrick from Maintenance, and all our Nurses, Care Staff and Housekeeping Team for their wonderful support. 💙

Your teamwork, dedication and care helped create a truly memorable day for our residents, families and guests.

💬 Your Voice Matters at Nephin Nursing Home 💙 where we believe that every resident should have a voice in the life of our home.

Our monthly Residents' Meeting provides a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, hear about upcoming activities, events and plans, while also sharing ideas, suggestions or raising any concerns they may have.

These meetings are an important part of ensuring our residents feel heard, valued and involved in shaping their home. From discussing new activities to making everyday improvements, every opinion counts.

Thank you to all our residents who took part in this month's July meeting. Your ideas and feedback help make Nephin Nursing Home an even better place to live. 💙

We had another visit from Luna, the much-loved Therapy Dog who visits us here in Nephin Nursing Home every week.

Luna’s visits are always eagerly anticipated by Residents, bringing comfort, companionship, and plenty of tail-wagging happiness.

Thank you to Luna and her owner for making our day extra special with your visit.

Last Sunday, we had the pleasure of celebrating Annette B.'s 78th birthday with everyone at Nephin Nursing Home.

It was a wonderful occasion filled with smiles, birthday wishes, laughter, and, of course, a delicious birthday cake. Celebrating these special milestones together is always a joy, creating precious memories for our residents, staff, and visitors alike.

From everyone at Nephin Nursing Home, we wish Annette a very happy birthday and a year ahead filled with happiness, good health, and many more special moments. 💐💖

Last week, our residents at Nephin Nursing Home were delighted to welcome a very special visitor for the very first time – the beautiful therapy dog Luna from 🐶

Luna quickly made lots of new friends as she spent time with our residents, bringing plenty of smiles, gentle cuddles, and happy conversations. Animal-assisted therapy provides comfort, companionship, and wonderful opportunities for connection, and it was heartwarming to see the joy Luna brought to everyone she met.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to Luna and her wonderful handler from Irish Therapy Dogs for such a memorable visit. We are already looking forward to welcoming Luna back again soon! 🐾
