Music, Singing and Happy Memories at Nephin

Music is always a much-loved part of life at Nephin Nursing Home, and our residents certainly love to sing along to their favourite songs.

Last week, we enjoyed another wonderful visit from Mickey the Music Man. Mickey is a regular entertainer at Nephin and always brings plenty of music, fun and smiles to our residents. It is lovely to see everyone joining in and enjoying those familiar tunes.

On another day, we also enjoyed a lovely tea party, where singing was very much on the menu! Our residents came together to enjoy some tea, treats and, of course, plenty of singing.

Whether it is an afternoon of entertainment with Mickey or an impromptu singalong over a cup of tea, music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, creating memories and putting a smile on everyone's face.

🌱 Growing Something New at Nephin Nursing Home

Our Residents recently enjoyed a lovely hands-on gardening activity with Nancy, our Activities Coordinator. They learned how to propagate "Snake Plants" from leaf cuttings. 🪴

The leaves were carefully cut and placed in water, where they will remain for several weeks while we wait for the first little roots and shoots to appear. 🌱

Once they are ready, the new plants can be potted up, and we will have brand new "Snake Plants" grown from our original plant 👏🥰

A lovely activity that will require a little patience, but we are looking forward to watching them grow. 🪴👩‍🌾

🐾 A Very Special Visitor at Nephin Nursing Home

We had a wonderful visit from therapy dog Luna, who spent time meeting our Residents and enjoying the cuddles and treats 🐶

There were plenty of gentle pats as Luna made her way around the home, bringing a little extra joy to everyone she met.

Visits like these are always so special and it was lovely to see how much our Residents enjoyed spending time with their four-legged visitor.

Thank you, Luna, for coming to see us and we look forward to your next visit 🐾🐕

Getting Our Hands Dirty at Nephin Nursing Home

Our residents enjoyed a lovely gardening session last week, repotting ornamental plants and planting some beautiful flowering plants. 🪴

There’s nothing quite like a little time spent gardening — and judging by the photos, everyone was happy to get stuck in 😊

A big thank you to our Activities Coordinator, Mariya, for organising the session and for sharing these lovely photos with us.

More Memories from Our Residents’ Afternoon Tea 💜

We’re delighted to share even more photos from our very special Residents’ Afternoon Tea with family members and friends, held as part of our celebration of World Alzheimer’s Month 2026.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter, conversations and, most importantly, time spent together.

These photographs capture some of the wonderful moments from the afternoon — from catching up with loved ones to sharing a cup of tea and enjoying some delicious treats together.

A heartfelt thank you once again to Chef Nidhin, Eldo and our Kitchen Team for preparing such a wonderful afternoon tea, and to our fantastic Care Team for helping serve everyone and making sure our residents and their guests were so well looked after.

And a very special thank you to all the families and friends who joined us. Your presence helped make the afternoon truly memorable.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things, like a cup of tea, a good chat, a laugh shared with someone we love, that create the most precious memories.

☕💜 Afternoon Tea with Family & Friends at Nephin Nursing Home 💜☕
Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a very special Afternoon Tea with family members and friends, as part of our celebrations for World Alzheimer’s Month 2026.
It was a lovely afternoon filled with delicious treats, cups of tea, laughter, conversation and, most importantly, precious time spent together. 🧁☕💜
One particularly special moment was when one of our residents treated everyone to a beautiful song — a wonderful reminder of the joy, memories and talents that make each of our residents so special. 🎶❤️
A heartfelt thank you to our Kitchen Chef Nidhin, Eldo and all the kitchen team for preparing the delicious cupcakes and helping to make the afternoon such a success. 🧁👏
We would also like to thank all our Care Staff for their wonderful help in serving tea and treats and ensuring our residents and their families had such an enjoyable afternoon.
Most of all, thank you to all the family members and friends who joined us. Your time, company and continued support mean so much to our residents. 💜

Wednesday was all about taking a little time to relax and enjoy some well-deserved pampering! 💙

Jimmy and Kay thoroughly enjoyed their head and shoulders massage, and judging by those happy faces, we think they were very pleased with their treatment.

A special thank you to Dan, our Activities Coordinator, who swapped his activity hat for his masseuse hat today.

Sometimes it’s the simple things — a little relaxation, a bit of care and some time to unwind — that can make such a lovely difference to the day.

We had a wonderful celebration at Nephin on Saturday, 5th September, as we came together to celebrate our lovely resident Patrick Byrne, who turned 71.

Patrick’s actual birthday was Friday, 4th September, but the celebrations continued into Saturday, with his family there by his side to share in the special occasion.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and, of course, birthday celebrations — because a birthday is always better when shared with the people who matter most.

Happy Birthday, Patrick — we hope you had a fantastic 71st 🎉🥳

🍫 Poetry, Pampering & Chocolate 🍫

Our residents at Nephin Nursing Home enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing Poetry and Chocolate Party. 💆‍♀️

Our lovely aromatherapist, Maeve, treated residents to individual hand, head and shoulder massages while they savoured delicious, rich chocolate and enjoyed Poetic Heart — a beautiful poem about chocolate by Georgina Tully, founder of Forever Therapies. 📖🍫

A gorgeous combination of relaxation, poetry and sweet treats — what more could you ask for? 💕
