Hello Shine Family,
It is with deep sadness that I write to let you know I have made the decision to close the studio. For the past 3.5 years, Shine has truly been a labor of love. I have given this everything I’ve had to give, and I am incredibly proud of what we have created together. I’m proud of our teachers, who have shared their knowledge so generously and helped create such a welcoming and supportive environment. And I’m deeply grateful for every single person who has walked through our doors and played a role in making Shine the beautiful community it has become.
This chapter has also been one of the most difficult seasons of my life. Alongside being a full-time massage therapist and yoga teacher, I have also been the studio owner, marketer, cleaner, organizer, scheduler, and wearer of all the hats that come with building a business from the ground up. Over time, the stress and responsibility have taken a toll on both my health and my personal life. I’ve reached a point where I know I need to begin taking better care of myself and finding balance again.
I have spent time trying to find someone who might want to carry Shine forward, and while I haven’t found that person yet, part of me still hopes the right person may step forward so that Shine could continue on in some form.
At this time, our final class is planned for July 11, 2026. We will gather for Root to Rise – Vinyasa Flow at 10:30am, followed by a mini sound bath to bless the space and everyone who has been part of it. We will also be having a studio “garage sale” the weekend of July 11 (times TBD) with bolsters, blankets, blocks, furniture, candles, décor, and so much more. You’ll have a chance to take an actual piece of Shine home with you. We will also be having a community work day on Sunday, July 12 for anyone who would like to help us pack, clean, organize, and lovingly prepare the studio for closure.
I’m also very grateful to share that I’ve created a partnership with Essential Yoga and hope many of you will continue your practice there after we close. Sunni has always been warm, supportive, and generous with her guidance whenever I had questions about studio ownership. She has never treated me like competition, and I appreciate her deeply.
For anyone with an active membership on our closing date, Essential Yoga will be offering a special discount to help welcome you into their community. Essential Yoga will also be hosting an Open House on June 20 from 6–7pm, followed by a free Open Mic Night from 7–8:30pm for anyone who would like to visit the space and connect with their community. Sunni will also be coming to Shine for a meet-and-greet on June 30 at 6pm so you’ll have a chance to connect with her, ask questions, and learn more about Essential Yoga in a relaxed and welcoming way.
Our regular class schedule will remain in place through closing, and our teachers have lovingly committed to staying with their classes through this final chapter. (The only schedule change is that Emily will no longer be teaching Saturdays, per her request.) More than anything, I would truly love to see these final classes filled with familiar faces, new faces, laughter, connection, and community. If Shine has meant something to you, I hope you’ll come practice with us during these last weeks and help us celebrate everything this space has been.
A few logistical notes:
• Memberships will be prorated so your final payment ends on July 11 and you are not overpaying.
• If you currently have class passes, we encourage you to come practice and use them over these final weeks. More than anything, I hope you’ll spend this time being part of the community while we are still together in this space.
• For class packs purchased within the last 60 days, I will either issue a credit toward future events with me or refund unused passes when appropriate.
• I’ve also added a 6-class pack option for anyone who is running low on passes and wouldn’t be able to use another full 10-class pack before closing.
Although the studio itself is closing, this is not the end of Shine completely. We will be transitioning from Shine Yoga Studio to Shine 417 and will continue offering Kirtan, Satsang, Sister Circle, Conscious Men’s Club, sound baths, retreats, and other special events — just without one permanent studio location. While this chapter is ending, Beloved Body Massage will continue, and I’ll still be offering massage therapy and future community events through Shine 417.
Shine has always been built through community, and it feels meaningful to close this chapter together as well. Please know this decision was not made lightly. My heart is breaking, and there is so much sadness in letting this chapter go. But I also know I have reached my personal limit in how much I can continue to hold on my own.
Thank you for every class attended, every kind word, every conversation, every laugh, every tear, every hug, every moment of trust, and every bit of support along the way. Shine has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
With so much love and gratitude,
Robin
