Sumits Yoga was created by Sumit Banerjee based on his own years of experience in practicing and teaching Bikram Yoga and Vinyasa. By integrating the best core principles of traditional hot yoga and Ashtanga-inspired power flow, Sumit created a dynamic, energizing practice that focuses on building strength, flexibility, and balance with a holistic approach of nurturing the spirit. You don’t need t

o be especially flexible or incredibly fit to practice Sumits Yoga. The results speak for themselves! Sumit’s class sequence is designed for all levels beginner through advanced and reinforces his primary objectives as a teacher: helping others to realize the powerful wellness benefits of yoga including a stronger, toned and more flexible body and an improved state of mind encouraging relaxation, self-acceptance and awareness. All Sumits Yoga teachers are devoted to inspiring confidence and motivating students to keep evolving their practice – no matter their age, strength, experience or flexibility.

When we made the decision to close Sumits, the plan was simple: continue serving our community through the end of the year and then close our doors.

A month ago when we shared that news, we know it sent a lot of people—including us—on an emotional roller coaster. There were tears, memories, hard conversations, and a lot of uncertainty about what the future would look like.

But sometimes a little uncertainty has a way of making the right things fall into place.

Over the past month, it became clear that what has been built here is simply too special to say goodbye to. The community, the connections, the impact this space has had on so many lives—it deserves to continue.

That’s why we’re so excited to share that beginning July 1st, Ashley Archer will become the new owner of Sumits Yoga Springfield.

A longtime teacher within the Sumits family, Ashley has spent more than a decade as part of this community and understands the culture, values, and connection that make this place so special.

And while ownership is changing, you’ll still see us (Nikki & Steph) around the studio teaching and staying connected to the community we love.

To every student, teacher, staff member, and friend who has walked through these doors, thank you. Your trust, support, laughter, perseverance, and presence have shaped Sumits into far more than a studio; you’ve built a community that has changed lives, including ours.

As we step into this next chapter, our hearts are full of gratitude. The faces may evolve, new ideas will emerge, and the story will keep growing, but the spirit of Sumits remains. What began as a dream has become something bigger than any one person—a community strong enough to carry its legacy forward. And that may be the most beautiful chapter yet.

Same studio, new era. We can’t wait to keep practicing with you.
