Senior Star

Senior Star Our Mission: Unite as exceptional stewards for seniors and those who love them, and serve as thoughtf Indeed, these are the very basics.
(1)

Every year, we talk with thousands of families as they explore their options for transitioning into a senior living community. We find that most families desire the same things for themselves and their loved ones: safety and security; comfortable, supportive surroundings; a healthy lifestyle and well-being; and a little help when it's needed. And we believe our job is to continually do these thing

s extremely well.

“At Senior Star, we understand that this is a people-first business. It’s not about real estate; it’s about the connection our employees have with each resident and their family members. These special connections enable us to provide the kind of service that truly makes a positive and meaningful impact in the lives of the seniors who call Senior Star home, their family members and our employees.”
- Robert Thomas, Owner

In 1989, we looked at the choices available to seniors and their families. We decided there had to be something more. We rethought senior living, and this is the result.

We’re pretty sure there were more stories in the room than we’ll ever know. 💜

Some probably came with a name in mind. Some with a story. Some simply because someone they care about cares.

And a couple of those stories made their way to the mic.

Shondel and Brandon, you two.💜 Sharing something that personal isn’t always easy, but hearing a little of what Alzheimer’s has meant in your own lives made the night that much more special. We’re really glad you shared it with us!

We may never know every story that was in the room that night.
But we’re really glad they all brought us here. 💜

This is what joy in action looks like. 💜

Wexford Place turned an ordinary summer afternoon into something special with their very own Wash ’n Roll. 🚗💦

The way Kate shows up for others deserves to be celebrated.💜 Way to go, Kate!

Some people just have a way of making you feel seen.

That's Kate.❤️

Whether she's stopping to chat, sharing a laugh, or simply checking in, she has a way of making people feel important.

Recently, paying attention to one of our residents made all the difference when he needed help.

And honestly...

That doesn't surprise us one bit.

Kate, you make Senior Star at Elmore Place better just by being you. We’re lucky to have you.

Jean shared something in this story that really stuck with us.

The Nifty Niners were created to honor residents in their 90s.

What happened next was something no one could've planned.

They became one of the biggest sources of encouragement in the community - lifting up neighbors, cheering on associates, and giving back to organizations all across Kansas City.

Turns out, when you've spent a lifetime caring for others... that doesn't just stop. ❤️

Most people think turning 90 means slowing down. The Nifty Niners ...

One of the most comforting things Paula says in this story is also one of the simplest:
"You're not giving up." ❤️

For so many families, those four words can change everything.

Caring for someone with memory loss often comes with more questions - and more guilt - than people expect. This conversation is a reminder that exploring your options isn't about giving up. It's about giving yourself the time and support to make thoughtful decisions for someone you love.

Caring for someone with memory loss comes with a thousand questions...

Ashley is a wonderful example of what it means to be a Difference Maker at Senior Star. Thank you for leading with heart and making moments like this matter. ❤️

You can tell a lot about someone by what they choose to keep. ❤️

For Ashley...
It was a drawing made by one of our residents.

She took it home and now it proudly hangs on her refrigerator.

It's a small story.
But it says something really big.

Ashley has a way of making people feel valued - not just through the work she does, but through the relationships she builds along the way.

Ashley, thank you for making Dublin Retirement Village a place where moments like this happen every day. 💜

Every Monday, you'll find one resident making milkshakes for her neighbors.

It's a simple tradition.

But it says so much about the kind of community at Dublin Retirement Village.

Sometimes, the biggest difference isn't found in the awards a community receives.

It's found in the people who choose to make someone else's day a little brighter. ❤️

One of the hardest parts of caring for someone with memory loss...
..is wondering if today is the day you need to ask for help.

For many families, that question lingers for months, or even years.

Then, after making the move to Memory Care, we often hear something they never expected to say:
"It was the hardest decision I've ever made... but she looks so happy." ❤️

Sometimes the decision that feels the hardest is the one that brings the greatest peace.
