🦓🦓 Time to have a think about your bones… because you won’t get by without them!

Did you know that as you head into perimenopause, your bone density starts to drop off more rapidly?

In fact, it starts to drop off from around the age of 30…

So, this post is probably timely for almost everyone reading it!

What can you do NOW to help your bones?

āž”ļø If you have the risk factors, chat to your GP about blood tests to check your vitamin D and calcium levels.

āž”ļø If you’re over 50, and you’ve had a fracture, push for a scan to assess bone density more specifically.

āž”ļø Consider how active you are: are you doing enough for your bones? If not - get in touch. We can help you get moving safely.

And lastly, if you’re perimenopausal, educate yourself about the huge positive impact Hormone Replacement therapy can have on your bones - then chat to your GP

One more week, and it’ll be here:

That time when the layers come out, the chill sets in, and it’s sooooo much easier to just stay home, where it’s warm and cosy…

Firstly, no, i do NOT love washing…

If I got offered the option of never having to cook again, or never having to do washing again, hands down 100% I’d NEVER do laundry again!

There is no joy in laundry!

But, the joy of seeing my kids sports uniforms - symbols of teamwork and friendships and communities, honestly makes me so happy.

One of the gentle rules that my husband and I have for our kids, is that they must participate in a team sport.

Any sport, their choosing, but something that puts them in a team.

Thankfully, this is something they’ve all been more than happy to do so far, so it’s not hard to enforce. But it’s something that we really hope they continue to do, throughout their childhood, and beyond.

Being part of a team, especially in a country town like Ballarat, has helped to give our children such a sense of belonging, of identity, of self-worth, and of purpose.

Through uniforms, training sessions, game time, and occasional team milkshakes at , these connections help to build such beautiful foundations for our little people to blossom. None of my kids are especially gifted in their chosen sports (sorry kids!): no-one is playing at a rep level, or dominating on the court/field. And, their teams are certainly not out there winning every week. But by being a part of their teams, my kids are learning responsibility. They’re learning how to rely on others, and to be relied upon. They are learning when to listen, and be still for a coach, and when to get out there and give 100%.

They have routine and structure in their weeks, which helps with grounding them.

They have teammate’s parents and families cheering them on, giving them encouragement, making them feel worthy.

Laying out their uniforms, and watching them participate each week, is definitely one of my joys of parenting, and one I will very much miss when they’re all grown up 🄹

Not going to lie - it’s one of my favourite days of the year!

And I say that knowing I sit in the incredible privilege of this being a day, where I am able to hug my own beautiful Mum, and these 4 little legends as well. It’s a period of life, that I do not take for granted, and I appreciate deeply. Every day, but especially today.

My Mum is a superstar, and gave me an incredible apprenticeship into parenting.

And being a Mum goes beyond anything I could ever have envisioned…

More tiring, more terrifying, more emotional, more challenging and more rewarding than any other task could, or will, ever be.

Did my kids liaise with one another before making their purchases at the Mothers Day stall earlier this week?

No, they did not, but surely every Mum can do with at least 2 luggage tags with matching bracelets…

Did my kids fulfill my wish that we had one day without arguments or fighting?

To be honest, at 6pm, they’re actually going along not too badly at this one!

To all the Mums in our bodyBEgood community - I hope today has been kind to you.

šŸ’œ To our first time Mums, I hope today is the first of so many beautiful Mothers Days with your little ones.

šŸ’œ To all who are missing their own Mums today, sending a big virtual hug to you. No words, just a big hug.

šŸ’œ To the women trying so hard to become a Mum - may this be your last Mother’s Day without a little Bub to snuggle.

šŸ’œ To all the women who’ve had a really sh*tty Mother’s Day, whether because your partner failed to make you feel special, or your kids aren’t here, or you’re just exhausted and worn out, I hope you can put today behind you and have a better day tomorrow.
