Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us of something simple but powerful: talking can save lives.

In my work across mental health, safeguarding and forensics, I’ve seen what happens when people suffer in silence.

Creating psychologically safe spaces — in workplaces, families and communities — matters.

• clear decision-making
• knowing when to act
• recording and escalating concerns

That’s the difference between compliance and safeguarding.
