🌞🎉 Our Annual Summer Fayre is Almost Here! 🎉🌞

In just three weeks’ time, we will be holding our annual Summer Fayre on Saturday 4th July — and we need your support to help make it our best one yet!

We are kindly asking for donations for our stalls, including:

🌱 Plants
🍬 Sweets
🧸 Toys and games (in saleable condition)
🍾 Bottles
💍 Jewellery
👕 Clothing
🪑 Bric-a-brac
🎟️ Raffle prizes

Every donation helps us provide more meaningful engagement opportunities for our residents through activities, outings, entertainment, and “seize the day” experiences.

Anything you can give can be dropped off here at MHA Morel Court, or please let us know if you need us to arrange collection.

Morel & Courts Steak House Restaurant Experience 🍽️

This evening, 9 residents enjoyed a wonderful restaurant experience with a table booking at Morel & Courts Steak House.

Residents were welcomed with menus and received full table service, with orders taken and drinks served by our fantastic waitresses, Lesley and Dawn.

In the kitchen, Emma expertly cooked steaks to order and prepared a delicious selection of sides including coleslaw, creamy garlic mushrooms, garlic bread, and onion rings.

For dessert, residents could choose from chocolate fudge cake served with cream or ice cream, Julia's homemade apple pie with custard, or a fresh fruit salad.

The evening was made even more special with a relaxing atmosphere and classic music from the 1920s playing softly in the background.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and it was a wonderful evening for all involved. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success! ❤️

Happy Birthday Sarah! 🎉

Today is Sarah's birthday, and we hope you can all join us in wishing her many happy returns on her special day.

When asked what cake she would like our cooks to make, Sarah surprised us by choosing a trifle instead! As she's not particularly keen on cake, a delicious trifle was the perfect choice for her celebration.

Happy Birthday, Sarah! We hope you have had a wonderful day filled with happiness, laughter, and lots of lovely memories. 🎂🎈🎁

Reminiscence time with Pam this morning! 🌊

Pam enjoyed a sensory scent activity, exploring familiar seaside aromas that sparked memories and conversation. She also had fun completing a seaside-themed jigsaw puzzle, bringing back thoughts of days spent by the coast.

Afterwards, Pam fancied playing a game, so we enjoyed a couple of rounds of Tiddlywinks together, sharing plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. 😊

A lovely morning filled with reminiscence, sensory stimulation, and fun activities.

🌿🚶‍♀️ Seize the Day with Shirley 🚶‍♀️🌿

This afternoon, Shirley finally had the weather on her side, allowing her to enjoy her long-awaited "Seize the Day" wish.

Shirley wanted to walk as much of the Old Railway Path as she could on her way to Cosmeston, taking in the beautiful sights and sounds of nature along the route. She especially enjoyed seeing one of the lakes and spending time outdoors in the fresh air.

After her walk, Shirley relaxed with a lovely pot of tea in the café, enjoying watching the world go by and saying hello to fellow walkers along the way.

A wonderful afternoon spent doing something truly meaningful and special to Shirley. 💚

🍟 Happy International Fish and Chips Day! 🍟🐟

Today, our residents enjoyed a classic British favourite for dinner. They had the choice of battered fish or fish fingers served with crispy chips.

Some residents enjoyed their meal just as it was, while others added a sprinkle of salt and vinegar, along with tartar sauce or tomato sauce to suit their taste.

A delicious and much-loved British meal enjoyed by all as we celebrated International Fish and Chips Day! 🇬🇧😊

🧀 Today we celebrated International Cheese Day! 🧀

For tea, our residents had the choice of delicious cheese & spring onion sandwiches or another tasty option, or a warming bowl of soup.

Our light bite option proved especially popular — a beautiful cheese platter served with a selection of crackers, grapes and chutney. Residents enjoyed a variety of hard and soft cheeses including Philadelphia, Dairylea, Brie, Goat’s Cheese, Boursin Garlic & Herb, Blue Stilton, Feta and traditional Mature Cheddar.

The cheese platters were a huge success, with excellent feedback given to one of our talented cooks, Julia, for her fantastic presentation and preparation. Well done Julia! 👏🧀

🍎🥂 Happy International Cider Day! 🥂🍐

Today, Dawn hosted a lovely cider tasting session for our residents, giving everyone the opportunity to sample two different ciders while learning about the fascinating history behind each company. Aswell as giving examples of what foods pair well with them.

The first cider was Westons Stowford Press Sweet Apple Cider, produced in Herefordshire and founded in 1878 by Henry Weston. The second was Kopparberg Pear Cider, which was founded in Kopparberg, Sweden, in 1882.

After learning about the ciders, residents put their knowledge to the test with a fun cider-themed quiz. Out of the two ciders, Kopparberg Pear Cider proved to be the firm favourite amongst our residents! 🍐🏆

To round off the afternoon, residents also enjoyed refreshing cider ice-pops. Dawn then visited residents in their rooms to ensure those who were unable to join the session could still take part by trying a cider or enjoying an ice-pop.

A wonderful afternoon of tasting, learning, and sharing smiles together! 😊🍎🍐

🍫🍬 Happy National Rocky Road Day! 🍬🍫

Today, Shanelle hosted our Cooking Club, where Pam and Val got busy creating a delicious batch of rocky road. They mixed white chocolate buttons, broken-up digestives, and rainbow heart mallows into a rich blend of dark chocolate, syrup, and margarine.

Once fully set, this tasty treat will be served from the dessert trolley at tea time for everyone to enjoy. 😋

Rocky road has been a favourite for many years and is a great way to use up all sorts of ingredients. From biscuits and marshmallows to chocolate and sweets, there are so many ways to make it your own – you can even get rocky road-flavoured ice cream!
