🏡 Care Home Open Week is here! 🏡

This week, MHA are taking part in Care Home Open Week, and we would love to welcome you to come and visit us at Morel Court.

If you or someone you know is considering Residential Care, why not pop in and see what we have to offer? Our friendly team are ready to welcome you, show you around, and answer any questions you may have.

✨ Our rooms are designed to become your own personal space, with the opportunity to add your own belongings, treasured items, and personal touches to make it feel truly homely, to help create a familiar and comfortable environment.

🌿 Enjoy our spacious lounge and conservatory, leading out into our beautiful, flat garden. There are plenty of areas to enjoy a peaceful walk, relax outdoors, or simply sit and take in the surroundings.

🍽️ Our meals are freshly prepared by our own kitchen team, with homemade dishes made on-site rather than brought in from outside suppliers. Residents can enjoy dining together in our dining room or, if preferred, meals can be served in the comfort of their own room.

🎨 Our dedicated activities team provide a varied programme of activities, including trips out, entertainers visiting, and our popular Seize the Day opportunities — helping residents continue to enjoy new experiences, hobbies, and social connections.

🧠 Become a Dementia Friend at MHA Morel Court 🧠

On Friday 24th July at 2:30pm, we are pleased to welcome Siobhan to MHA Morel Court to deliver a Dementia Friends Information Session.

The Dementia Friends programme, run by the Alzheimer's Society, helps people gain a better understanding of dementia and learn simple ways to make life easier and more inclusive for those living with the condition.

We would love for residents, relatives, and staff to join us for this informative session. The session lasts just 1 hour and is a great opportunity to increase awareness and support within our community.

🎟️ Our Raffle Table is now on display! 🎟️

Pop into reception to take a look at the fantastic prizes currently available and don’t forget to pick up your raffle tickets! A strip is just £1, and every ticket purchased helps us make our upcoming Summer Fayre a success. 🌞

With our Summer Fayre only 3 Saturdays away, we would be so grateful for your continued support. Whether you purchase a strip (or more!) or help us fill the table by donating a prize, every contribution makes a real difference. 💙

Our events rely on the amazing generosity of our local community, helping us to create meaningful experiences for our residents — from activities and outings to bringing in entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Together, we help our residents to “live later life well.” 🌻

🍸Happy International Gin Day! 🍸

This afternoon, our residents enjoyed celebrating International Gin Day with a special gin tasting session, kindly organised by Emma Diamond, who generously brought along a selection from her collection for everyone to try.

The residents sampled:
✨ Gordon's Sicilian Lemon
✨ Gordon's Sloe Gin
✨ Gordon's White Peach
✨ Bombay Sapphire
✨ Hendrick's Flora Adora
✨ Beefeater Pink Strawberry

Served with ice, tonic water, or lemonade, residents were able to enjoy a refreshing afternoon drink, with some even taking the opportunity to relax out in the garden while sipping their chosen gin.

The clear favourites of the day were Bombay Sapphire and Beefeater Pink Strawberry!

A huge thank you to Emma and her daughter for coming in and helping make the afternoon so enjoyable. The residents had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed trying the different flavours. 😊

At MHA Morel Court, we encourage our residents to think of a special "Seize the Day" wish – whether it's a lifelong dream, a nostalgic memory they'd love to revisit, or a unique goal they'd like to achieve.

These moments help our residents to truly "live later life well", with our dedicated staff and Activities Coordinators working together to turn these wishes into reality.

You may remember Shirley's recent Seize the Day challenge, where she walked as far as she could along the old railway path to Cosmeston. Today brought another wonderful surprise, as Shirley discovered she had been featured in yesterday's Penarth Times – something she was delighted and genuinely surprised to see!

It means so much to us when residents share the things they would like to do. The more they tell us, the more opportunities we have to create meaningful experiences and lasting memories.

Over the years, we've helped make all sorts of wishes come true – from arranging for a resident to meet a St Bernard dog for the very first time, to helping another resident enjoy a memorable boat trip.

We never quite know what a resident's Seize the Day wish will be, but that's all part of the fun, the challenge, and the privilege of helping make those special moments happen.

☀️ Today’s ray of sunshine came straight from our dessert trolley! ☀️

A huge thank you to the talented Emma Diamond in our kitchen for creating these absolutely stunning summer treats. 🍰✨

We had:
🍋 A delicious lemon meringue pie topped with light and fluffy meringue
🍇 A fresh fruit salad with cream, made with juicy grapes, melon and satsumas
🍫 A decadent chocolate brownie, topped with cream and finished with a fresh chocolate-dipped strawberry

They look absolutely amazing — and we can confirm they taste just as delicious as they look! 😋

Emma will also be running our very popular cake stall at our Summer Fayre on Saturday 4th July. 🎉

If you have any cake cases of any size or cake boxes that you no longer need and would like to donate, Emma would be extremely grateful for your support. 💕

And a little warning… her cakes are very popular! 🍰 If you’d like to grab one (or a few!), make sure you arrive early from 11am, as we’re sure they’ll be scone before you know it! 😉

🌞🎉 Our Annual Summer Fayre is Almost Here! 🎉🌞

In just three weeks’ time, we will be holding our annual Summer Fayre on Saturday 4th July — and we need your support to help make it our best one yet!

We are kindly asking for donations for our stalls, including:

🌱 Plants
🍬 Sweets
🧸 Toys and games (in saleable condition)
🍾 Bottles
💍 Jewellery
👕 Clothing
🪑 Bric-a-brac
🎟️ Raffle prizes

Every donation helps us provide more meaningful engagement opportunities for our residents through activities, outings, entertainment, and “seize the day” experiences.

Anything you can give can be dropped off here at MHA Morel Court, or please let us know if you need us to arrange collection.

Morel & Courts Steak House Restaurant Experience 🍽️

This evening, 9 residents enjoyed a wonderful restaurant experience with a table booking at Morel & Courts Steak House.

Residents were welcomed with menus and received full table service, with orders taken and drinks served by our fantastic waitresses, Lesley and Dawn.

In the kitchen, Emma expertly cooked steaks to order and prepared a delicious selection of sides including coleslaw, creamy garlic mushrooms, garlic bread, and onion rings.

For dessert, residents could choose from chocolate fudge cake served with cream or ice cream, Julia's homemade apple pie with custard, or a fresh fruit salad.

The evening was made even more special with a relaxing atmosphere and classic music from the 1920s playing softly in the background.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and it was a wonderful evening for all involved. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success! ❤️

Happy Birthday Sarah! 🎉

Today is Sarah's birthday, and we hope you can all join us in wishing her many happy returns on her special day.

When asked what cake she would like our cooks to make, Sarah surprised us by choosing a trifle instead! As she's not particularly keen on cake, a delicious trifle was the perfect choice for her celebration.

Happy Birthday, Sarah! We hope you have had a wonderful day filled with happiness, laughter, and lots of lovely memories. 🎂🎈🎁
