💜 Nursing Homes Week 2026 has finally arrived – and to mark its official start, we wanted to share a video of support from from Award-winning Irish Naturalist, Wildlife Documentary Presenter (RTÉ, TG4, BBC NI), and Wilderness Guide, Mr Eoin Warner.

💜 As we look ahead to Monday, and the official start of Nursing Homes Week 2026, we wanted to highlight what can be expected from this year's campaign through the Connected With Nature theme.

💫 From the initial planting of flowers and seedlings on “Our Home in Bloom” Monday, to a final celebration of nature and gardening on “Showcase Sunday” - Nursing Homes Week 2026 will celebrate the powerful connections that nature and gardening help to create within nursing home communities across Ireland.

📆 Throughout NHW 2026 residents, staff, family members, and supports can expect to see:

🌷Gentle Gardening.

🍃Sensory Gardens & Natural Trails.

🌿Discussions on Seasonal Crops & Herbs.

🌱Activities aimed at Reconnecting with Ireland’s Ancient Ceremonial Seasons.

📆 On Thursday, the 30th of July 2026, St Joseph's Home Ferrybank (Waterford) celebrated World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly. At this fantastic celebration; families and friends joined the staff and residents for music, food, fun, and an afternoon of togetherness!

🎉 This fantastic event saw people of all ages (from 6 months to 102 years old) come together to celebrate family and enjoy an afternoon of fun and music.

👏 A huge well done to the whole Team at St Joseph's Home Ferrybank, including all the staff and residents, for making this such a special day of celebrations.

🟣 As part of the Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) Nursing Homes Week 2026, NHI is pleased to announce, that in association with Homecare Medical we are running a special Nursing Homes Week 2026 Competition for All Nursing Homes taking part in this years Weeklong Celebration 🌿🍃🌱

🎭The Gaiety School of Acting of Acting and Erasmus+ Ireland are teaming up for an exciting new project called NARRATE-D.

📝NARRATE-D aims to create a transformative cultural environment within libraries, helping to establish them as community hubs for dementia-friendly activities.

🗣 As part of this project, the Gaiety School of Acting & Erasmus+ are hosting a one-time focus group with carers of people living with dementia to understand better their realities. Through discussions of lived experiences, they seek to identify real-life needs, barriers, and opportunities, while exploring architectural, cognitive, communication, and social challenges that may affect participation.

📞They are looking for carers of people living with dementia to sign-up to participate in a 90-minute online discussion this coming Monday, the 27th July from 4pm to 5.30pm.

☀️ As Summer is well and truly here, Nursing Homes Ireland is preparing for the Annual NHI Nursing Homes Week, which is taking place from Monday the 17th - 23rd of August this year!

🍃 As part of the preparations for Nursing Home Week 2026, Craddock House welcomed the RTÉ Radio 1 Mooney Goes Wild Show, to discuss the exciting ideas they have planned for this year's Nursing Homes Week.

👏 A special thanks and well done to the fantastic "Two Marys" from Craddock House for their brilliant contribution to this episode, and for outlining the importance of nature, and the role they feel being connected with nature plays in their lives.
