📆This year’s theme; Connected with Nature, will see Nursing Homes and Residents from across Ireland celebrate the beauty, connectivity, and therapeutic essence of nature and gardening🌿🍃🌱

🎉We are really excited about and have some very special supports and surprises planned for all participating Nursing Homes and Residents 💜

📸 Ann is a resident (hero) in Tramore Nursing Home Co Waterford, who is leading as part of the Challenge.

🎉 What started as one persons personal challenge, has now grown to a Community Campaign- all thanks to Ann.

🚶‍♀️ Ann did not only start , she grew it, and now leads a Campaign which includes fellow residents and staff of Tramore Nursing Home, as well as a host local schools, businesses, and the wider Tramore Community! As the Campaign continues to grow and raise vitally needed funds for MS Ireland, its founding member continues to take part in - as part of her walking journey, Ann became the first person to walk across Waterford's New Pedestrian Bridge!

💪 Throughout May, Ann is leaving her own limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into Multiple Sclerosis, better access to treatment services, and to support people living with MS in Ireland!

🎉 Today Nursing Homes across the country are celebrating National Arts in Nursing Homes Day 2026, as part of the .

🎨 This collaborative campaign between and shines a light on the creativity and artistic expression thriving within nursing homes and care settings across Ireland. Today, Nursing Homes nationwide are hosting events that will showcase the creative work of residents and staff members, highlighting the important role the arts continue to play as we age.

✨ Each year a number of Nursing Homes are announced as the National Arts in Nursing Homes Day Awardees. These awards recognise Nursing Homes that demonstrate innovation in their creative practice and show a strong commitment to collaboration between residents, staff, and artists.

🏆 This year's Awardees are: Castlemanor Nursing Home Co. Cavan, Oakfield Nursing Homes Co. Wexford, Orwell Healthcare Rathgar, and Rush Nursing Home in North Dublin.

📸Here are the fantastic residents and staff of Rathgar showcasing their work entitled “Orwell Boulevard,” developed in collaboration with artist Karen Hicky. The project is a visual arts initiative celebrating life journeys within the nursing home community.

🗓️ This years International Dementia Conference will tak place from the 13-14th May 2026.

🗣️ This Conference will feature over 40 expert speakers from Ireland and beyond, includng NHIs Strategic Clinical Nurse Expert with Oversight for Regulatory Compliance.

Through this years theme “Let’s Keep Connecting” attendees will hear directly from those living with dementia, family carers, and supporters, as well as industry-leading researchers, professors, and healthcare professionals.

🏐🏐🏐As we all prepare for the start of the 2026 Championship tomorrow.

Everyone at Nursing Homes Ireland wants to wish the best of luck to all the players, bainisteoirs, coaches, backroom staff, and supports for the season ahead!

NHI was thrilled that we could continue our partnership with GAA+ this year and have now issued GAA+ access codes to all HIQA-registered private and voluntary nursing homes across the county!

Thanks to this continued partnership over 30,000 nursing home residents and staff will have access to all 40 live matches and will be able to cheer on their Counties!

An unforgettable evening at the NHI Care Awards 2025 💜

Over 350 guests gathered at the Round Room, Mansion House, to celebrate the compassion, professionalism and excellence that define nursing home care in Ireland.

A special highlight was the presentation of the Olivia Slater Award, honouring the memory of our cherished colleague and friend. This award celebrates dedication, warmth and service in nursing home administration.

We extend our sincere thanks to Olivia’s husband and son, who joined Minister for Older People, Kieran O’Donnell, in presenting this deeply meaningful award.

A special mention to Darvin Ambas of AnovoCare Nursing Home, our Overall Winner for 2025, and to Jimmy Cox, recipient of the Resident Achievement Award.

Heartfelt congratulations to all of our finalists and winners, your commitment and excellence in care inspires us all. 🌟
