Dr. Michael Kim - Facial Plastic Surgery Choosing the right plastic surgeon for your facial aesthetic procedures is of great importance. Dr. Dr. Michael Kim is a proud native of the Pacific Northwest.

He grew up in Bellevue, Washington and earned his Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. He completed his medical education at the University of Washington and subsequently moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he did his internship in Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins University. Further subspecialty training in Facial Plastic &

Reconstructive Surgery, and Oculoplastic Surgery was completed at OHSU. Dr. Kim then joined the faculty of Mayo Clinic Arizona's department of Otolaryngology. After two years of practice in the desert, Dr. Kim returned to the Northwest where he joined the Division of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at OHSU in 2011. In April of 2019, Dr. Kim founded drmichaelkim Facial Plastic Surgery in Northwest Portland in order to craft the best patient experience the Northwest has to offer. Dr. Kim's practice is highly specialized, focusing exclusively on plastic surgery of the face, head and neck. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His areas of expertise include nasal surgery (aesthetic and functional septoplasty/rhinoplasty), facial rejuvenation (facelift, necklift, browlift), oculoplastic surgery (blepharoplasty, ptosis repairs), laser facial skin resurfacing, facial reconstruction following skin cancer surgery (Mohs reconstruction), scar revision, otoplasty (ear pinning), earlobe repair, benign and malignant skin lesion removal, and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures such as injectable fillers, and Botox/Dysport. He is also excited to announce that he will be offering the InMode Facetite, Accutite, and Morpheus8 procedures. In his free time, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with his family, golf, attending sporting events, and eating out. Happy Birthday to… US!
Seven years ago today, we took the plunge and started this little private practice. We left a stable academic job for the great unknown of creating a private practice. Would they come? Would we be taking a big risk? Would it somehow just work out? Fortunately, the answers were “yes!”
On this date in 2019, we began seeing patients in a tiny temporary office just down the road. Since then, both I and the practice have grown in countless ways, all guided by a simple goal: to do right by our patients and provide a patient experience that is second to none. Do we always get it right? No. But we do our best and treat people the way we’d want to be treated.
Surgical results matter, of course, but they are only part of the story. The overall, holistic experience matters too. How patients are treated before they walk through our doors, during their consultation, on the day of surgery, and throughout their recovery. Our goal has always been to create an experience that makes patients feel cared for, supported, and confident in their decision. Happy patients tell their friends, who tell their friends, and that trust is what has allowed us to grow.
We also strive to create a workplace where people feel valued, respected, and appreciated. Team members sometimes move on to new opportunities, but one of the most meaningful compliments I receive is when former employees tell me it was a great place to work. We want to be the place with the best people so that we have all-stars treating all-stars. ✨

I am excited for what the future holds. While I don’t know exactly what the next seven years will bring, I do know that we will remain focused on our patients and our team. My name may be on the door, but this practice has never been about one person. A ship doesn’t sail with only a captain. It requires an exceptional crew, and I am grateful every day for the people who help care for our patients and make this practice what it is.

That “something” was a nose with a reduced profile and a more refined tip to better complement her other beautiful facial features. During consultation, we provide a realistic simulation to help align on goals, as everyone’s idea of a beautiful result can vary from person to person. While there can always be some variability in healing and outcome, our experience and technique allow us to get very close. You be the judge! 👨‍⚖️

This beautiful physician from Oregon was referred by a fellow physician friend. She came in wanting to improve both the shape and function of her nose, addressing asymmetry that affected her appearance and her breathing. Her goals: better symmetry, a smoother profile, and a tip that wouldn’t drop when she smiled. Most importantly, she wanted a result that looked like her — not a “done” nose.

This lovely local patient in her 70s came to see me for both functional and aesthetic concerns related to her eyes. She had previously been evaluated by an ophthalmologist, as her vision was being obstructed by excess upper eyelid skin. While she qualified for functional upper eyelid surgery, she also wanted to address cosmetic concerns of the lower lids and elected to do everything together with us.
She is just 5 weeks out and already noticing a meaningful difference. She told us she wants to tell everyone about her results and couldn’t be happier with her outcome. More confident in her appearance and back to driving on the freeway again 🚗💨 😮

This lovely retired nurse injector in her 60’s came to me seeking a subtle refresh of her upper eyelids to help open her eyes and improve symmetry between the two sides.
She is pictured here before and 4 months after her in office upper blepharoplasty, and she is thrilled with her result. Her eyes appear brighter, more refreshed, and better balanced, while still looking natural and completely like herself.
It is always humbling when someone trusts me with their face. It feels especially meaningful when that trust comes from someone with a trained eye and deep familiarity with aesthetic care. That kind of confidence is never taken lightly.
